Well even if he is an android or clone, he's still the ultimate life form, Shadow the Hedgehog! You can see him say that in the Sonic Heroes game in one of the stories when they get on board Eggman's fleet of battleships.

I mean, even if he was confirmed to be a clone during Shadow, the Original still wouldn't have been dead, as Omega stated in Team Dark's ending during Sonic Heroes "You know about Cloning. The original must exist somewhere" that line doesn't prove that the Shadow in Heroes was the original, but it still showed that even if he wasn't, the original didn't die.

Still nice that it was actually confirmed in game tho, with how messy Shadow the Hedgehog's story was, I'm surprised they actually bothered to conclude that plot point.

The other evidence is in Shadow the Hedghog. When Black Doom tries to control him IT actualy works for a little while, since Shadow was created from Black Doom's blood. This has been reveald in the cutscene before the final boos fight.
