How to repair cracks in rendered walls

We are repairing a crack in a cement rendered wall, the previous person didn't do a very good job of repairing it so it was a bit hard to get perfect.

Or, for a proper job, grind it out to a V with tapered edges with an angle grinder and fill with cement render

Were you using water out of an empty paint tin to stipple, and smooth out the edges of the filler?

I would of put any gapping glue in it and blended in render (texture coat or cement render) with a sponge for a better look

ive always sealed masonry cracks with oil based stabilising solution first

best thing to do with cracks is to back fill with expanding foam

While better cosmetically than "the last guy's" job, I see no reason this won't look much the same given a little time. We don't really think those halves of the wall are entirely finished moving, do we? I came here hoping for an elastomeric patching method.

I don't completely agree with this. I would shallow fill it first to allow for for shrinking then fill it a second time using the method you've just used.

1 part PVA to 10 of water thats after you give it a good dusting out and the rest...

You should always use hydraulic cement for these types of repairs.
