Nupe. This will come back. The reason cracks occur is due to movement. In this scenario the movement is probably because the plaster or render has "popped" from the substrate meaning it's lost its adhesion and there's a gap between the wall and the plaster. The key to success here is in stopping the movement thus stopping the crack from re appearing. The way to do this is to rake out the crack into a v shape as you correctly did. Then using an 8 or 10 masonry drill bit, drill holes right along the crack around 4 inches apart. Using expanding foam, inject the foam into the holes until resistance is felt and foam starts to spill out from the hole. Leave for an hour, cut the foam back and double fill with your desired filler and sand. The foam will act to fill the gap between the plaster and the wall eradicating the movement and the crack. 28 years a decorator here. 👍

Dude I'm like 2 weeks into drywall and know tape is used to prevent cracks. Compound alone will not hold.

If the structure moves not any tape and patch will keep it from cracking back

White premixed sandable cornice cement good for 1st layer of patching with mesh tape embedded. Then wider top coat with topping premixed..

A bit of pva in the crack, then foam, then filler. This will allow any future movement to the crack

Only thing I would of done different applies some peel stop before easi fill binds the cracks and seals the edges

Wouldn't cutting small circles in each end of the Crack ensure it can't keep cracking?

You don't need to sand it at the end, just a wet sponge. Save yourself from the dust!

Why do you drill at both ends? To prevent from it continuing to crack?

I’ve done numerous cracks structural and cosmetic and I would of (if I was the client willing to pay)taken back to brick on the crack if it was a brick wall just to be sure tho it did only look a tiny crack so maybe not and if it was not brick I would of done numerous holes and used expanding foam to permanently fix the movement that was causing the crack, also 100% aware that a lot of people won’t pay for this and I’ve done loads the same way as the video and I know a lot will come back sooner or later given enough time but it’s all people have wanted 🤷‍♂️, but on my own property I tend to go all out foam tape etc,

You need to fix why the wall cracked first then properly use mud and tape to hide the seam. Or you will be back at it.

Don’t listen to these cranks taking about tape scrim mesh and mud, it’s just bollocks, that way you’ve done it with last for years, bit of easy fill job done, , 40 years decorating doing it that way !😜
