🔷Show Notes🔷

NOTE: For the best success with contacts, It is in your advantage to first go through a contact lens fitting class at either your local eye clinic or optical for professional guidance.

How to put in contacts in
1. Wash your hands
2. Dry your hands with a lint free cloth
3. Remove lens from packing
4. Inspect the contact lens for defects
5. Check the lens is not Inside Out
6. Use fingers to control eyelids to prevent blinking
7. Gently place lens onto the eye
8. Blink a few times and allow the lens to settle.

Note: It is best to have short fingernails as it will make the removal process easier. Long fingernails puts you at higher risk of a corneal abrasion.

It is also best to remove make up before putting in or taking out contacts as the makeup can stick to the lenses (hard to remove)
-- My favorite Makeup Remover (safe for skin eye eyelids) --

IMPORTANT: If you ever have a red eye, a painful eye, you think you scratched your eye or experiencing vision loss related to your contacts...REMOVE THE LENSES & call your local eye doctor ASAP.

🟢 Eye QOTD: Have you had any success with contacts? Any ideas or tips of your own for getting lenses in?

A great tip for people who can't stop blinking: Get SUPER close to the mirror while you're doing it. Literally so close that your nose is touching the glass! It helps because your brain is expecting it to touch your eye much more than if you're further away! I massively struggled with mine until I figured that out. Fixed the blinking problem immediately!

i swear my eyelids are Olympic trained to blink every time I try to put the contacts in

I would like to share my experience as a beginning contacts wearer.
I went to 2 training sessions the first one was a disaster. The lens fell on the floor 3 times then I did not have my eyes open enough then I was putting it in too fast. The second training session went perfectly. You have to pull back your eyelashes along with your eyelids and take your time.
You also need to have a dry finger to put in the lens or else it sticks to your finger and not your eye.
Do not give up, you just need to remain calm and practice, practice, practice.
Good luck to anyone else who decides to wear contacts.

I got my lenses today and struggled putting them in for over half and hour. Then I found your video and put them in in one try, this was super helpful.
This is the first time i'm using lenses so it's a bit unsettling how clear everything looks without the weight of the glasses on my face. 💗

For some reason I'm really scared of putting them in... I usually start crying after 3 tries and give up lol.

I am an optometrist who has been fitting contacts for forty years. This video is very good, and I share it with my patients. I Would only add, to gently slide the lens side to side a little, once its on, to get out any dust that may be caught under it when inserting.

For anyone reading this. My first time it took 3 hours to put one contact in. Now it takes me like 30 seconds to put it in. Don’t worry it’s all about practice. At first touching my eye burned but now it feels ticklish. My struggle now is that I start laughing from the sensation lol

It took me 30-40 minutes to get the contacts in and like 10-20 minutes to get it out. The guy who was teaching me seemed really annoyed by the end and I felt so bad. I have to go back in a week and I’m really scared, I hope this video helps.

I am 41, got contacts at 40 for da 1st time. Took me going 3 times. Now iam a pro. Practice Practice & a good teacher, which I had.

My method is to look sideways (towards my nose) and first put the lens on the white part of the eye and then slide it into place. My eyes are super sensitive and I haven’t managed to get contacts straight in like most people do. I use the same method to take them out - slide the lens onto the white part of the eye and pinch it out. Both are time savers for me personally 🙌
