UPDATE: I have posted a short showing the performance of Lumina Square now that I have gotten access to the area. It is still better than the Technical Test’s Sixth Street, but it does hover around 40FPS a lot.

I’m glad im wasn’t the only one noticing this. It seems to really drop in lumina square for whatever reason and it randomly drops in certain stages randomly

I feel like if ZZZ wants to prove itself to have a decent skill ceiling, it would first need to provide a stable and reliable frame rate for all platforms. Good job on bringing this issue to light.

Okay, I wasn't going crazy. The FPS drops in combat later on in the game (especially when rain is involved) are insane, making content like the Shiyu Defense and Hollow Zero not as enjoyable to play, sometimes even borderline unplayable with how low the FPS can dip. Going from 60 to what feels like the 20s is unacceptable...

It would be nice to at least have an option to lower the render resolution or something, but I'm not counting on them to fix this anytime soon. Thank you for making the video, hopefully it helps bring it to their attention!

I'm glad the hub areas run much smoother in the release version than in the beta. It's very enjoyable exploring the in-game world.

I've noticed the color filter option in the menu and that is the first thing I turned to 0. I'm guessing this is the green filter overlay and I'm glad there is an option to adjust it and turn it off.

I've filled in the in-game feedback and had the same experience as you. I like and enjoy the game and hope they will improve it even further

I noticed in long cutscenes, when near the end the cutscene is stutter. Some cases the game go to 30 or 20 fps, like when the boss electrified effect applied and the player doing some serious combos.(like Belobog final boss fight). And Lumine street is not deliver 60 fps for sure, but i think this depends on day cycle.

I think this is more due to bad optimization, Spiderman 2 has a larger world, great graphics and it manages to hit 60fps almost 98% of the time. Surely they can use dynamic resolutions or something to mantain 60fps

It blows my mind how rabid some fans are. They will literally tell you you’re lying if you mention frame drops in combat. Or tell you that you just have a defective ps5. I wish I could be that delusional. I’d probably enjoy the game way more.

Very good video, I think people aren't as loud about the performance issues on hsr is because it's still a turn based game at the end of the day but i would love if it ran a bit better.

As for ZZZ, i I don't remember what the name of the area was but it's one of the later open city areas which has some of the worst framerates I've ever seen on a ps5 game. It's consistently hovering around what feels like 30-40 fps when walking around that city.

And i noticed the frames are dropping way more often in combat when it is a rainy map. There was a rally mission which had a larger than usual combat area and it was raining at the same time so it had very unpleasant frame drops throughout the whole mission.

For an action game i think they don't have an excuse to not fix these frame drops and i hope they're not waiting for ps5 pro to come out and have the game just run better over there.

Thanks for this in depth analysis. I am getting downvoted heavily on reddit when I made a post talking about poor performance and quality on PS5 version.

People are literally saying its because there is a huge difference in performance on each PS5 because the parts are from different factories or whatever.

On PC the settings that best match the PS5 reflections is medium reflections it disables all planar reflections but keeps high quality cube maps and occasional SSR for puddles of water

As for performance honestly this game is all over the place I've had frame drops on PC and then check my specs only to find it's not fully utilizing the GPU and barely tickling the rest of the setup

Also there's some issues when tabbing out and back to the game on PC that cuts the framerate by like 50% and the only fix is to reboot the game

The game feels rushed by has a nice direction, hopefully they address these issues

My M1 iPad Pro runs this game smoother than the PS5. Perhaps Geekbench really is right about the M1 outperforming the Zen 2 Ryzen chip in the PS5!

For me as long its not gamebreaking ill take it, though ill go for feedback if i notice some fps drops..

I dont have an issue with combat, but I hate going to Lumina Square. The entire area is just a lagfest.
