Voldemort cannot cast a patronus because he didn't have any happy thoughts. Patronus charm only works if you think of a single profound happy thought.

Voldemort being a Slytherin is not why people would think it's a snake. They would assume it's a snake because he's a parseltongue and he has a strong affinity for them outside of his Hogwarts house.

Just because he's a Slytherin, has a pet snake, used snake bodies as vessels, looks like a snake and controlled a giant snake doesn't mean his patronus will be a snake 🐍

Well, if it isn't then I assure you Voldemort would be pissed, that man loves snakes

Voldemort did cast a patronus once. It was a Koala. He never tried it again.

I know its not the case but it wouldve been interesting for the series if one of the side effects of using one of the unforgivable curses was to tarnish your soul and lose your patronus forever, hence making you unable to fend off the darkness and dark beings like dementors, it wouldve fit the lore and make a good real consequence of choosing the dark arts.
Edit: it would also explain why they use dementors to held dark wizards and witchs in azkaban, they being unable to fight them off.

now that I think of.. is because Snape still love Lily therefor he can cast Patronous like Harry said in practicing in the room "think of something you love or makes you happy"

Maybe Voldemort would be able to cast a Patronus whilst at Hogwarts, but not a full corpeal one, more like a small shield like Harry was able to at first. This is probably because he didn't have enough happy and powerful memories to create one. After he rose to power, he'd never need the Patronus as the Dementors were all loyal to him anyway. It would make sense that if he was able to do a full corpeal Patronus, it'd probably be a snake due to his affinity to them. Dumbledore's Patronus is a Phoenix because he finds Phoenix deeply facinating and cares a lot about Fawkes. Harry's is a stag because of his love and admiration of his father whose Patronus and Animagus was a stag. Snape's is a doe because of his love for Lily whose Patronus was a doe.

The thing is, there are actually plenty other ways to defend from dementors than just patronus. One of the effective ways is occlumention. You close your mind and dementor can't extract any memories from you, nor your soul. Considering Voldemort is a potent Legiliment, he is certainly capable of doing that.

A patronous is the creature who protects you, is the inner part of you. A pure heart, heart filled with emotions, empathy, sympathy, love, care can only create one. Voldemort lacked each of these feelings. He could not produce a patronous. After fread 's death, George could never produce patronous as well. Fred' s death was a hard blow for him.
