Love it! I use a Samsung T5 as the main drive on my 2013 iMac and use the internal 1TB HD for Time Machine. I just copied my HD over to the T5 and it boots from it. The difference in performance for every app is shocking. I stuck the T5 to the back of the iMac stand, so you can't even see it.

We use a Samsung T5 to store our photos. Would love to use one for our vlogging video clips, but we'd need way too much storage for any SSD to be cheap enough. They're so small and compact, and relatively cheap compared with other brands, we just need to save up the money. Love the idea of attaching it to your computer 👍

Hi Nolan - I just wanted to come back to this video and make a comment on your workflow - ie saving all of the assets, library etc into a folder, deleting the Library generated files, and saving. It has saved me so much space and faffing about. Also, I had a need to go back and make a change to an edit for a client, and all everything I needed was right there and I was able to turn it around super fast. Great advice and it has changed the way I organise everything - thanks again so much!

I use this for backing up my videos. I highly recommend it!

last week I bought this Samsung T5 1TB SSD for €99, - on the Black Friday sale.
3 years earlier I already had bought the blue T5 500GB.
Those have almost 8000 hours on the counter. And work perfect 100% error free Smart test.

Incredibly reliable.

Back in college, prices were coming down on PC's but am editing rig was still price prohibitive. So to edit projects we had to have a hard drive to edit off of. It had to be thunder bolt, it was the only thing fast enough. Will USB 3.0 had LITERALLY just come out and they were cheaper than Thunderbolt drives and faster.

Well it had the HARDEST time trying to edit off of it. The problem was something like they are faster, but the data package is still smaller or something like that. IDK someone else can probably explain it better.

But my point is, trying to edit a film when you can't find the footage that is supposed to be there is the most frustrating thing EVER. Having the right external HDD to edit off of is SUPER helpful.

Nolan you just saved my channel, lol. I filled my 1 TB MacBook today and now I will clean it all up, get the Samsung T5 to use for 1 project at a time and keep it organized. Thank you so much.

Currently using LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt 2TB HDD. Doing alright for now with Final Cut on iMac with upgraded RAM. Definitely want to invest in an SSD and everyone has been recommending this Samsung one. Now you guys have done a video on it - it definitely must be legit haha - always look out for Think Media recommendations!

FYI - I was interested in watching the video you mentioned at the end (ie how you organization your stuff for final cut pro editing), but when I clicked on the link it brought me over to a microphone review. You might want to check that out.

Why is the T7 so slow for editing? When I copied a 50GB file from IMAC to T7 it took approx 30 minutes..editing the file was as slow as using the hard drive on my computer. What am I missing?

Velcro attached before the video ended! Thanks for the tip!

Isn't this not required now? Because you can get SSD inside your desktop in place of HDD. Same for video editing laptops

I don't even need to watch to say how much I love the T5! (I will still watch tho!) I have two and been operating just fine with them for over a year! And gotta love that you can plug em into the s9 and s10! Also works just fine with Windows 10 👍🙌

Yup, I definitely need one of these before my hard drive 💾 dies!!
I don't trust all of these spinning parts!

Yes, these Samsung SSD's are great! I have two of them: a 250GB T3 which I got a few years back and recently I got a 1TB T5.

Nice!! I had to go with a 500GB Sandisk! I love it! Super fast, never had any problems. But this one also looks dope! Definitely got tired of seeing the little "you're out of space" message come up on the mac haha

It's a great drive. I recently got a Sigma FP to shoot raw. I got a 1 terabyte Samsung T5. After realizing that about 5 minutes of raw, 12 bit footage is about 100 gigs, I ordered another (2 Terabyte T5) along with a 10 terabyte backup drive. Fun times.

Thanks so much for the tips! I’m editing with Premiere and having just started my channel, I’m learning that videos can eat up hard drive space rather quickly! Will be getting a portable hard drive in the near future hopefully!
