🔴GEAR WE USE:
In this video, Will talks about the best budget hard drive that we would recommend using. It's the Lacie Rugged USB-C 5TB. It isn't an SSD, but these hard drives are very cheap, extremely portable, have high storage, and because it has USB-C as the connectivity, it's surprisingly fast.

Cool! I had seen these on some of your other films and I had checked them out! Thanks! I have already lost a 6TB drive not so long ago. This is what I will get soon! Awesome films Alli & Will! Peace!

Seen on their website also as BLACK. Which is my preference. Dont want any expensive, valuable product to standout to thieves. Shiny object.

so interesting because the video I watched right before this one someone in the SSD industry said this: Lacie does not make drives, they make fancy looking yet non effective enclosures. What you will find inside of that LaCie box is a regular 4TB M10 Seagate drive (same as you would find in a native Seagate enclosure but for much less). Orange bumper and metal case are not going to save the drive from mechanical failure in case of impact. Heads will get damaged just as easily as they would in the cheapest option of this drive in this size. It's basically a marketing stunt.

man, it's hard to know what's good and what's not.

Do you have a step by step video on how to use this for editing. I purchased because of you so thank you. Now i need to know how to use it when editing lol

Agree. Bad reviews on Seagate. And I have had two (2) WD external drives fail (over 15 year period).

GREAT VIDEO MAN!! I just got mine after watching your video, but do you recommend any formating before starting to use it? or should I go straight to transferring and storing my stuff in it. I have have heard many stories of setting it up for your MacBook Pro etc... but I want to know what you would do... I'd appreciate the intake

I've been looking for a great option to store movies, anime and old pictures 😅
Would you say this External HDD is a viable option for storage?

Hello hope you doing well, I have an iMac for home use since 2012, was looking into buying new m3 iMac in the coming days, question can I backup my old computer music, pictures and short videos which is around 450 gig ? My old iMac is 1 TB but still even though have more than 500 gig open it’s super slow and besides was told from Apple I can’t updates to new Apple updates that are available for my own ciber protection, what size LaCie external hard drive you recommend for me, please and thanks

I’m very new to using external hard drives and I find it a bit intimidating lol I’m going to go ahead and purchase this one. I keep running out of disc space on my Mac Air laptop. I make space by deleting stuff but eventually the problem comes back. I can’t even upload a 10 minute video onto my laptop so I could edit it down on iMovie which is discouraging for me. So, when I decide to upload videos / photos from my memory card to my laptop, I just plug this hard drive in so it uploads onto there instead? And then edit on iMovie from there? Also, I noticed you said this hard drive isn’t an “SSD” — what does that mean? Is that a downfall to it? Would i, a newbie, even be affected by that? Haha

I've been looking for a hard drive to store movies without losing all files after a year or two. Is this a good choice for storing movies?

Do I have to do anything special to help my Mac recognize it? I ran out of space on iMovie that’s why I bought this 😅

This is a random question, but I am a university student and I want to buy an iPad. Which iPad do you recommend for students?

I also like this hard drive my friend in communications major has it and she said it is the best.

Also, can this hard drive work if you use an iPad or an HP pro book laptop?
