Problems with SANDISK SSDs 😬😱

Here are the SSD's I own and use every day:

Some people have reported problems with Sandisk Solid State Drives. My best advice would be to avoid the Gen 3 4TB drives and stick with 2TB or the Gen 2 drives.

*CORRECTION*

When I say megaBITS at the beginning the numbers I'm referring too are actually in MegaBYTES. Freudian slip...

Megabits are used in a networking sense for internet speed, megabytes would be used for this scenario.

It's not transfer speed, its internal read/write speed.
Transfer speed is limited to the usb specification they use.

I had problems with the 4TB twice now. So I just use it for stuff I don’t care about or is backed up. Ended up buying a few Samsung.

2000 Mbps is extreme PRO, it's not 3rd generation. The other are extreme.

Using the Gen 3 4TB model. No issues. ✌🏻

500megabits per second = 60Megabytes per second. None were ever that slow. 😂

The were 5000megabits or 5 gigabits per second which is more like 600megabytes per second.

Been buying these drives for at least 4-5 years. The one crazy thing that hasn’t changed is the price. I can guarantee that a 1gb is going to cost me roughly 100 dollars whether it me 2018 or 2023.

I have a 2TB Sandisk thats been great, but then I got a new 4TB and the cable that came with it was so loose, it would fall out of the drive while trying to plug it in. Shoddy connectors. After reading about data loss and over heating problems I just returned it to Amazon for refund, and got one of the Samsung SSD's instead after reading comments here. The 2TB Sandisk connectors are all very tight and well fit.

1 Megabyte = 8 Megabits

For me, the simple solution was to go to the SSD in Device Manager,
uninstall, reboot. It came back up mapped to the wrong drive letter, but
once I changed it back, it worked perfectly. :) :)

FYI small b = bit; big B = byte
so this would be megabytes per second

Dude, all three SSDs you're showing are the 2nd generation. The 1st generation doesn't have that keyring hole in it. The 3rd gen has a triangle keyring hole.

Bro your the best photographer on here. You show beginners like me that you can do photography for cheap. Your not someone who’s gonna tell me to buy a $5000 camera for my first camera.

I Nougat several of these. But after the first one failing, I did some research and replace all Gen 3 and Pro versions with T7s. Now I can sleep better. 😊

8 bits in a Byte.
lower case b in bit: Mbps
Upper case B in byte: MB/s

The are NOT interchangeable… they’re different.

We’ve had 10-15 4TB and 2TB drives of the new gen fail and corrupt data this year. You’re better off using Samsung or Glyph ssds. There’s a reason they’re on sale 67% off. It’s a joke.

I got the Gen 2 4TB version which ended up corrupting 4 months in and I lost ALL MY DATA from an expensive 3month photography trip around europe, just as I was plugging in to back everything up!!! Even data recovery specialists weren't able to get anything from it and said it had a damaged NAND chip. THAT'S why there's cheaper versions, because SanDisk are knowingly selling faulty drives. There's a lawsuit going on against them right now, I tried to join but I'm from australia and the lawsuit is in the US. I am SO MAD and will never be using SanDisk again
