I use the tip of an exacto knife - I used to build illuminated sill plates for all the different manufacturers. We used quite a bit of 3M double sided tape and if you put the very edge of the blade under the red protective cover, then flick away. Once there is a fingers grab - pull the rest. If your tape is not releasing - it could be compromised, and maybe not good for holding (tape integrity)

I have indeed done that and I do have a pair of those extra small pliers wrench. I never considered to use it for something like that. Nice tip thank you.

Still think I would only get one for practical jokes or to keep on my desk but good to know! ( I'm sure there are many legitimate uses for them )

Umm, if your fingers are too weak to pull the backing off double sided tape, than maybe do some manual labour it take up the guitar…. Strengthen those digits😊
