Yeah right! They could have read his thoughts. Jealousy and envy are two different emotions. At no point, even up to Anakin's sneak attack, was Anakin in a position or had the ability to kill Windu. Windu had defeated one of the most powerful Sith ever Something Maul Grevious, Dooku or Yoda could not do, or would not attempt.

Anakin would have lost because Mace could defeat both him and the Palp with his technique. However, if anakin was a few years older, he would have been unbeatable. This is what actually spooked Mace and Yoda.

I didn't think that Anakin wanted to kill him. I felt that Anakin wanted to replace him as a jedi master.

Just tiny glimpses at Anakin's perspective are such change to the story of the prequels. They got too much hate for what they were(before the sequel trilogy came in drunk) but a real criticism is that Anakin's fall into the dark side felt childish. The Prequels had too much to set up compared to the original trilogy. It had to set up the fall of the Jedi, the Republic, and Anakin. And while they were intertwined, they weren't synonymous. The movies had to show the effects that each of these three focus points suffered. The sequels was Luke and the Rebels fighting the Empire, so much simpler than the corruption and downfall of three widely different entities. Because the Prequels focused on more than just Anakin, we lost so much of the important perspectives that we needed for Anakin's downfall, especially in RotS. If we could have more accurately got that Anakin's stress and trauma was pushing his thoughts somewhere so dark, but that he was still so sensible that he both recognized and was embarrassed by it, Anakin's fall would have felt less like a joke then. In wouldn't fix how fast he trusted and submitted to Sidous when there was nothing to show for it, but hell I would've have accepted that the stress he was going through made him susceptible to some mind-warping mind trick from Sideous.
