Engearment looks at the Mountainsmith Day Pack. We have our own from 1994 and Mountainsmith provided the 2016 version for comparison.

Our 1994 Day Pack has been in continuous use since we bought it and looks like it did over 20 years ago. It accompanied us on travels to three different continents, survived 8 years of carrying books to university courses, and other various abuse. With the reintroduction of Cordura fabrics on next year's line of Mountainsmith Lumbar Packs, you can expect them to last over 20 years for you, too. That's why Mountainsmith says their gear is #forgedforlife.

I still have my original Red like yours. I made the mistake of cutting my belt strap down years ago when I was skinny. Now I can barely get it buckled. It has seen hundreds of miles of hiking through Northern CO. Still in great shape. 🥾🥾

Can you disattach the shoulder starp and utilize their shoulder straplette straps to convert it to a lumbar pack with backpack strap, thanks in advanced, they are nice packs for day hikes. Take care.
