How to Remove Background (Ambient) Lighting in Blender

Even with all lights removed, a default scene in Blender is partially lit. Learn how to adjust or remove this background (ambient) light. Details below...

Properties panel - World Properties tab - Surface section - Color

Click on the color chip to edit it. Increasing the Value (brightness) of this colour increases the background lighting in the scene. Reducing the Value to 0 removes all background lighting.

Thanks for this! I was trying to bake lighting into a texture and was wondering why there was grey ambient lighting in it, and this solved my issue
