No Power? Electric Range Troubleshooting | Repair & Replace

Oven and stove won't turn on? In this episode of Repair & Replace, Vance shows how to troubleshoot an electric range that doesn't have any power. First we'll cover the initial checks and reset the breaker. Then we'll test the 240V outlet for power. Finally we'll test the power cord for continuity.

This applies to Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Maytag, General Electric, and Samsung ranges.

When testing on power sockets, it is always a good idea to plug the neutral first (the black probe) and THEN the hot (the red one). On your video (3:30) you are doing the opposite.

I have a GE Profile PCB909DR1WW glass top that is probably around 10 years old at least and intermittently will not have ALL the elements working. They could go dead for a few days and without doing anything, they will start working again. The lights will come on, but no heat. Currently, it is working and all my connections seem intact with no wire issues that I can see. Ohms testing seems good. Any ideas as to what is causing this issue that has happened twice now? Obviously, will test again should it fail again, but if you have any leads I can address now or then would be appreciated. Thanks.

Question, I am getting 120v on each hot lead when I test them off of the busbar. When I connect them to the busbar I am not getting any power. The busbar reads 240v on one side and 0 on the other side. Any idea what the problem is?

I HAVE 2.6 ACROSS THE BLACK AND RED WIRES OF MY PLUG BUT between .5 and 1 on the neutral. Is this an issue? Thanks

i noticed yours has a four wire outlet, my home has a three wire outlet (OLD outlet) and my issue is that the newly purchased Range is not getting enough power or any power. Im wondering if I need to swap out the old outlet for a newer one.

I have a fridiare electric gallery stove. this is our second stove same model, same problem, oven does not work, however, at times the control board will come on and stay on for half day, one time it stayed on for 2 weeks. then back to its normal state of no worky, replaced wiring harness, control board and relay board. even my spare control board and relay parts didn't work, i believe the electric coming from the outlet is correct

What does it mean if from neutral to red you have 156 volts and from neutral to black 50 volts? Essentially voltage from neutral to hot is not the same

I get no heat anywhere stovetop or oven. But, i do have partial power, as the orange light still comes on as when i turn the burner knobs...The light doesn't come on however when I turn the oven knobs....

This is an older coil top stove(if that matters)
