Oven doesn't have power? In this episode of Repair & Replace, Vance shows how to test and replace the thermal fuse in an electric oven. The thermal fuse protects the oven from overheating. When it blows, it can prevent the oven elements or the control board from receiving power. This video shows how to test the fuse for continuity with a multimeter and how to install a new thermal fuse.

This applies to Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Kenmore, Maytag, General Electric, and Samsung ranges.

My oven went out and immediately assumed it was the heating element . I will check that fuse first.
Excellent tutorial, Thanks for taking your time explaining the instructions.

Amazing teaching!! You have a gift - a patient and clear and kind voice; and an explanation that doesn't make me feel like a dunce around electrical things. Even I can do this, safely. Thank you so much!!

Great video, your guide looks very easy to follow. Not sure if that's my problem though (dual-fuel range). After cleaning the stove top, I pressed the ignition button to light a burner and there were two loud bangs from somewhere inside the range, at which point the range lost all power. Nothing works - both electric ovens, oven lights, burner ignition, clock etc. Does this seem like it could be the thermal fuse or something else?

Hi, water accidentally leaked from my counter into the wiring of my built in oven, I heard a buzz and saw flashing behind the time display then a glass popping sound. The oven itself is now unresponsive. Would you say it is the thermal fuse that got damaged? Thank you.

My five glasstop burners and oven won't turn on/heat up, but the digital display and lights all work. Would the fuse control all the heating elements?

I can't find my termal fuse. I don't think I have one. Any idea where it could be if it's not in the back? Both my broil & bake elements aren't working. They both stopped working suddenly, and my guess is it's a thermal fuse

Do you have to have the unit plugged in when testing?

My Kenmore oven is t working. There seems to be no gas going to it, the igniter doesn't turn on at all. Could that be the thermal fuse as well? The stove top itself works fine.

Can't find the thermal fuse on my oven. Do all ovens have them?

My oven is built in so I cannot get to the back of it without breaqking the surrounding fixtures. Is there any way around this?

Will the top element not work unless I broil?

I was cleaning my stove and I think some water go inside of it and it stopped working. Do you know what the issue might be?

When I take the back stuff off there's nothing but connectors think my thermal fuse is deeper in the range and I just can't get to it my power went out last week and fried a bunch of stuff including my range but the elements and oven light still work but control panel doesn't have power and the oven won't heat

Replaced the temperature sensor and bake element still no heat. My next piece will be the control board.
