Climbing Mount Everest is a perilous feat, with freezing temperatures, razor-thin oxygen, and unforgiving terrain pushing the human body to its limits. But the dangers of the mountain don’t stop there—it's the choices climbers make that often seal their fate. Misjudging the weather, overestimating their abilities, or running out of critical supplies can transform a dream into a deadly nightmare. In the death zone, even a minor error can become fatal. And when climbers ignore the risks or gamble with their lives, the consequences are chilling. In this video we’ll show what happens when bad decisions meet the highest mountain on Earth?

It's disgusting that Mark who is a double amputee got so much blame for David Sharp's death, climbers with two legs and all the oxygen in the world couldn't have saved David in those conditions The only one to blame for David Sharp's death is David Sharp, he knew the risks he was taking, It's horrible but everyone that climbs Everest knows the risks

Test yourself all you want. Don't expect others to risk their lives to save you from your own ego.

The summit isnt the win...getting down alive is the win.

Crazy thing is everyone blamed a double amputee for not saving david sharpe while forty other double legged climbers passed.

That sherpa who went to look for Vitor alone, is a hero.

The people who complain about no one saving Sharpe, or risking their lives to save him and just letting him die, or calling the other climbers heartless, evil, unsympathetic, etc. They know nothing about mountaineering, and what it takes to save someone at that altitude. If the person can't get up and walk, and help themselves, then there's nothing anyone could do for him. David Sharpe knew that. He knew the risks of climbing Everest by himself. He knew that if he couldn't walk down the mountain, then nobody was going to be there to save him.

When you climb Everest and other such mountains, you write your own death decree. If you are lucky, you get to the bottom and can tear it up. It is too dangerous to the rescuers to do high altitude rescues. It's called the death zone for a reason. Too many Sherpas have died trying to rescue climbers who accepted the risks.

There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity.

The first woman was an accident. It can happen as you say when exhausted. Sharpe was just pure hubris. Same for the others

These people trying to summit Everest without oxygen are basically insane. At that altitude, oxygen deprivation causes your brain to swell and shut down. Even if they were rescued they would have permanent brain damage. Not to mention losing fingers, toes, cheeks, noses, ears due to frostbite.

NO ONE on that mountain owed David Sharpe shit. This narrative that everyone "left" him to die is preposterous.

Even if I could make it to the summit, I cannot imagine walking past dozens and dozens of frozen corpses along the way. That's just bizarre and absurd.

No sherpa...no satelite phone...without supplemental o2...Think I'm seeing a pattern here. Maybe they ought to hand out Darwin Awards at the base of Everest...

When someone stops to rest or has to wait because of a line in the death zone it's a deadly wait, the idea that there's a line in the death zone is insane, I wouldn't put my life in the hands of a line of people.

When a person choses, deliberate, risky decisions, honestly it is on them. That is a life lesson that should be learned at an early age. Maybe they have always been bailed out by parents or friends then mistakenly rely on that in death defying circumstances. You cannot stop someone else's stupid, only your own. I am a 74 yr. old RN.

I think Everst is the perfect example of "Lack of planning on your part (or stupidity) doesn't constitute an emergency on my part" Why should others risk their lives for his lack of planning, arrogance, and blatant stupidity?

I really feel like David Sharpe wanted to die up there. He was too smart and experienced. He knew what his choices would result in. He had to have.

The first 'poor decision' is the decision to try and climb Everest.

The obsessive desire to be the first this or the first that often ends in tragedy.
