That's why it's called the death zone.

Everest is filled with the bodies of once positive individuals

You can't actually help people at this stage. If you run into trouble its not like thry can just drag you back down. Trying to help means risking your own life

This is not a sports or a hobby, just purely madness

Nothing. Literally nothing they can do without putting their own lives at serious risk

In that situation it is every person for themselves and everyone knows it. It's dangerous stuff.

Well what exactly were they supposed to do to help him?

They weren't trying to end up like him. What could they do?

Yeah I'm sorry. If you are in the death zone and you start running into problems others are not responsible for you. If someone does try to help you and they see you are too far gone then that's your lot. You choose to be there and you knew the odds. All your preparation or lack thereof got you in that situation. People who think they should have done more should go up there and risk their own lives saving these people themselves.

I'm not a climber, but I don't blame the other climbers. Doing a climb such as this could mean like walking themselves into a dead trap, and they all know full well. Not sticking to a plan or having something else going on internally could mean a life or dead situation in regarding to time. This definitely isn't a guarrantee that if I could help someone that someone else would help me type situation... Nope, not in this situation!! You want to conquer one of mother nature's highest and deadliest places, don't take out your pity on anyone else.

Gotta get their fix. It's a drug and they're addicts.

To be fair it looks like paradise those views, i hope the people who have passed at least had a euphoric moment with the beautiful views above the clouds of the sunset, well they would have had a moment as it was their last and peobably better than a lot of others last moments 🙌🙏

Certainly heartless. Extreme climbing tourism on K2 and Everest strikes me as a big old mess, too many people climbing, sherpas put at risk. I understand its a life dream but its not really a very sensible one.

More people who help increases the risk of the entire group

thats not exactly an easy spot to just pick someone up and carry them down the mountain. first look at the amount of standing space, not alot of floor space. second they are in the death zone, there is practically no oxygen up there. its one thing getting you up there with minimal oxygen, imagine getting you and a 180lb weight down to camp 4 with minimal oxygen.

Hey that climber knew what he signed up for so you can’t blame the other climbers for not helping, that climber chose his fate now he’ll become a landmark for others to see .

This was a porter not just a climber. He was someone who brought climbers supplies up the mountain. RIP to the real hero’s porters and Sherpa

He wasn't a climber he was a porter, and was assigned to the high elevation team even though he should not have been. Due to desperation to help pay medical bills for his diabetic mother, and also having wife and kids to support, he disregarded warnings from Sherpas about his ill-equipped job. He continued on for the money as the high altitude paid a lot better. However, he was not experienced and should never have been assigned a High-Elevation job in the first place. All around disgusting behavior from all parties.
