Half-Life: Alyx's Ending Explained And How It Sets Up Half-Life 3

The Half-Life series has a long and storied history of ending its games with massive cliffhanger – including one that is probably the most notorious cliffhanger in gaming history – and though Half-Life: Alyx is the first game in the series in a long, long time and does many things it has never done before, it does follow that tradition to a T. In spite of being a prequel to Half-Life 2, Alyx ends on a cliffhanger, and what a cliffhanger it is.

He knows they don't have free will regarding it, anything they'll do with it will be manipulated by the g-man as it happened 5 years earlier. And yes, he knew g-man was in the vault and not Gordon, that's why when Alyx is teleporting he bursts in and urges her not to go

Episode 2 came out 13 years ago. I was 13 when it released. I'm 26 now, which means I've been waiting half my life (so far) for Half Life 3 to be confirmed...

The weirdest part for me is that this means that, even though Half-Life: Alyx takes place before Half-Life 2, it is also a sequel to Half-Life 2: Episode 2 from the perspective of the G-Man.

Black Mesa made a deal with the Gman to get the Crystal. Eli was one of the dudes who spoke with him and made a deal. Thats probably the reason he knows what the gman is up to.
