There is just somthing about your voice narrating half life and portal lore that just feels right.

in ADHD terms:

man pushes rock into laser thingie, world ends and man is sent into stasis thing by a suit guy who sort of started the whole thing

soldier guy is sent on a mission to black mesa, fails, then succeeds, and gets put in stasis by suit guy

man comes back 20 years later and brutally murders evil soldier guys (combine), few days later scientist pal guy dies to a big fleshy thing

girl wakes up in a facility, makes portals, solves puzzles, and kicks an evil robots ass

girl wakes up again with a robot companion that both successfully kick evil robots ass again, only for robot companion to do a little swap with evil robot, girl kicks both their asses and leaves.

scientist pals daughter tries to get in a big ship thing and presumably save man from 15 years ago, instead releases suit guy and saves her father at the cost of being taken away by social care.

I thought the resonance cascade was prevented by Cave Johnson and Caroline when they bought Black Mesa and renaming it into blapeture mesa. There was no combine invasion, Gordon Freeman was never put into stasis, and their world was normal.
