Pitts and Spitts Maverick 1250 pellet grill 1 month update

I have had the Pitts and Spitts New Maverick 1250 for just over one month now. I thought it was time I shared my personal thoughts and opinions on the construction and performance.

Pitts & Spitts seems to be pretty, well built, & sturdy BBQer. However, it does not get selected as a top pellet smoker. I wonder why? Is it beyond the medium point on the bell curve?

Awesome pit. I really like these but wouldn’t have bought one until they upgraded the controller from that pellet pro. Now I just have to decide between the 1250 and 2000.

Bob, ...I have seen your video a number of times as it does a great job of covering the Pitts 1250! It has been over 2 years now since you have used it, and possibly MAY have some different feelings about your purchase . Question: (1) Would you purchase it again?; .. (2) Do you still have the same satisfaction about it providing plenty of smoke, or possibly looking to enhance the smoke with other smoke devices to get the desired smoke flavor? (3) Does it CONVENIENTLY lend itself to direct searing? (4) Is there any other comments that you would like to add? The reason I am asking is that I am very close to purchase of the 1250 Pitts in a couple of weeks more, when I get past paying my property tax to our California thieves. Other than the Yoder 640S, I don't see any other smoker that comes even close to such a great unit as the Pitts! Thanks, Bob for helping me out here!

Awesome Pellet smoker. I wish the handle wasn't wood. I wonder could I upgrade that to stainless steel.

So I was wondering how good of a seal you actually have with that roll top lid. I can see that there’s a good amount of smoke coming out all along the top where the back of the stainless lid is. That was my only concern with this smoker is the efficiency loss with the design of that lid. Can you tell me how many pellets per hour you’re consuming? I’m pretty interested in the 850 version.
