Have you driven a Ford Focus RS (2016 onwards) ? This should be on the list, surely. This car is brilliant to drive and sticks to the road brilliantly. Haven't got one, but my big brother had one and in black it was not only a looker, it was fantastic to drive and the noise it made was too. As hot hatches go, for the price, what's not to like?!!😳🥳😎

Civic type R 2016 onwards whether FK2/8 or FL5 have Nurburgring records galore, all set with all the factory seats; no additional bracing. Top 5 is tricky but no type R is difficult to justify IMHO. 4x4 and FWD hatches should be separated perhaps?

The 2.3L Turbocharged Ecoboost engine of the ford focus RS outputs close to 350BHP taking it to 60 mph in 4.7s. Plenty of examples are available ranging in price from £20k for a 2016 example with almost 100k miles on the clock to £40k for a 2018 example with as little as 5k miles. One would need to shop around to get one, but they can be a real classic if kept in good nick.

Their popularity should make them a classic particularly because of their nickname, the ASBO!

I like this vehicle and sure, everyone has one but getting one in stealth grey or nitrous blue would be brilliant.

There are loads of things that go wrong with the focus. However, loads of examples abound and user forums are a font of information for repairs and self-managed maintenance.

This is arguably faster than those listed here (except the a45) but its "pièce de résistance" is the best handling in the class making it a superweapon on wheels.

Unfortunately the mini didn’t come with the centre lock wheels or harnesses as were on the concept (definitely the centre locks anyway). I really like the GP3, they just made it a little more ‘normal’ as 3000 were being made rather than say 100. But I think from concept to reality they did really well with it. Yes maybe for some people if it had a manual gearbox they would have liked it more, but it’s just a fun limited edition more purposeful mini with styling that means you don’t mistake it for just another JCW.

Yes fast but A45 will cost you on servicing with a major service up to £1k. The Audi S3 can do 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and will be cheaper to service. Hyundai I40N 2017 first gen are cheap, quick and handle better than automatics on track. Golf Club sport was revised as the I30N made the Golf GTI look slow.

I like all the cars on this list apart from the A45 really, although if a 997 GT3RS on modern tyres was independently tested on track against these cars that are apparently quicker...well, all I'll say is that I'm sure manufacturer-posted 'Ring times are entirely trustworthy and 100% representative. None of them, for example Honda, have ever set a time with a car blatantly modified in a way that they won't offer to customers. Everything, such as the gearing and boost, seem fully above board.

To answer the question though, Pug 306 GTi-6 all day, every day for me. There are a few which could be 2nd place, but that thing is a masterpiece.
