I’m lucky enough to own a GTIR. Had it for 6 years now. Spent a few of those rebuilding it. It is an awesome car that punches well above it’s weight. A true slice of Japanese automotive history that doesn’t stand on the shoulders of the skyline. In fact it’s quicker than the skyline when both examples are stock. Quite incredible.

Might be the first time ever that I genuinely can't pick between all the cars on the list. The GTIR is a beast, the 147 sounds insane, the R32 sounds good but with AWD, then RS is king of the fast Fords and the EK9 has VTEC yo! If they were all parked in front of me and I was allowed to pick one for a go...it's probably the EK9, I reckon it's the most fun, not that I've driven any of these.

Unpopular opinion: Get yourself an old Civic or CRX (also the non type R ones) They will get expensive. They are cheap, have lots of possibilitys, cheap parts, easy to repair and tune and really nice stock suspension. Also they use a really small amount of gasoline. The stock Vtec engines with SOHC are nice platforms for turbo builds and hold up a lot of abuse and can replaced relatively cheap, if they break.

The Pulsar at the end is an absolute beast of a hatchback. I remember this being in a clip on some cop show speeding, though I do not condone illegal driving, I was in awe of the triple figure speeds it reached whilst out running the cops in pursuit.

My favourites from the list would be the golf r32, focus rs and the civic type r. Couldn't decide though if I had to choose one.

Was very close to buying a gtir a few years back, love everything about them other than the ease of working on them, very expensive to maintain if you can't do alot of the jobs yourself

A Mazda 3 MPS would be a very good container here. There is also quiet a few JDM performance hatchs here in Ireland that have went threw the roof in value lately Rare in the UK tough.
Pulsar VZR, Mitsi Colt(Mirage Cyborg MIVEC), Starlet /Glanza Turbos. JDM dominated here in the late 90s and threw the 00s..

3:07 The R32 is a 6 second 0-60 (Some got 5.8 with abusive launches). It's not fast, but it's not that slow lol

Pulsar’s are absolute machines.always had soft spot 4 em back in day but never did it when they were affordable and should have.they are only going up and up now

I have the A3 version of the R32, maybe it's not as desirable but it's price also seems to be increasing atm which is a bit of a surprise.
