Would love to see another cheap, fast first cars video as it’s a struggle for many at this time 🙏

Might I suggest, you add what insurance group, the cars you list, are in.

We have a 2010 DS3R. There are only about 100 left on the road in the UK out of an initial run of 200 for the UK market. It was developed by Citroen Racing and is a stunning looking vehicle with fantastic performance.

Currently own a Twingo RS 163 KTec. So 160 bhp. It reminds me of a 205 GTi I had back in the day. The Twingo is insanely fun. Problems I've had with it have been water getting into the coil packs and spark plugs causing corrosion leading to a very difficult job in getting the plugs out. Great car. Buy one with the Cup pack which is the uprated coils and springs.

That Lupo still looks so cool, especially in that blue 👌

I used to own a red twingo rs. Very fun car and engine note sounded great for a 1.6. They focused a lot on the engine in these and handling!

Honourable mention: Toyota Yaris T Sport Turbo
It features the same 1NZ-FE engine as the regular version, but fitted with a turbo kit, making it produce 150hp. 0 to 60 was in the low 7s. It was only for sale in Japan and was not sold in the UK, making it extremely rare.
Value is probably above £5k

Thanks JB, another great vid. You make me chuckle about the Alfa! I have a friend (no, I really do) that has an Alfa Brera & GTV yet still uses his 1976 Rover P6 3.5 V8 as his daily because of reliablity...All the best to you & Simba...

I bought my car for one reason and one reason only: FUN. I like the idea of oversteering into a huge fireball. I don't actually, but I hate boring cars and the 308 GTi is about as non-boring as it gets in handling terms. It certainly holds my biggest slide angle record, not bad considering it's my 1st FWD car in 11 years / 4 cars!

Still, some fun rarity stats. Verified by very light Googling, so fully open to disproving, but close enough vs mainstream cars:
- Never more than 1, 000 on the road (of which about 25% the "why did you buy the one that's just worse but not really cheaper?" version).
- 36 PSI: the only other can I can find with equal boost pressure is a Koenigsegg Agera RS.
- 380mm brakes - biggest on a FWD car, same as a 992 Turbo S. Made by Alcon, the next slowest (non-armoured) car they supply being the Nio EP9, the former Goodwood record holder.
- Lighter than a Fiesta ST. The next lightest C-seg hatch seems to be the Golf, which is 180kg heavier. 225hp/tonne - the 2025 Golf R has 202hp/tonne...only a Type R beats that, of hot hatches.
- 2nd fastest FWD car round a track after the Civic? Debatable, since hardly anyone has lapped a 308. Based on Aussie tests and Llandau times though, this seems likely! (Edit: Also South Africans, it's popular there)
- Massage seats. I'll be honest, this is 100% the only point on this list I genuinely care about. They are the dumbest massage seats ever made, but it has them, so...massage seats.

It's a nice stats, rarity and overall Top Trumps list. Of course, I buy cars because they make me smile when I drive them and nothing else. The steering isn't great, the gearbox is like a blancmange and I dunno what the hell they were thinking with the gearing, but I did complain about the Porsche having long gears so I can only blame myself for buying a car that redlines in 6th at about walking pace. Still, big smiles, much understeer and I'm looking forward to the £3.5k replacement front brakes...but damn they're nice until that happens.

Also, I'm back to the long comments. Seems they directly correlate to when my work fully engages my brain, if this was a science channel that might be interesting 😁

I have an alarm on my phone to check my tyres - I've been trying to ruin the utter garbage (I literally don't know the brand of one of them) that the car came with, but once I've worn them enough to justify a new set (1-4 months) then I'll shove a set of PS5s / Sport Contact 7s on it and drive it down there if you want to film yourself calling me an idiot for selling the Porsche 🤣

Been looking for a Lupo GTI in Germany and they’re running €8–10k. Not paying that for a Lupo.

10K getting a 2006 model? The Lupo was from 98 to 05 and after 05 it was replaced by the fugly Fox. I dont think any Lupos were made after 05
