Smoking and Its Consequences – Part 1

Hamilton, ON - Students enrolled in the McMaster Demystifying Medicine Seminar Course took part in a presentation discussing the means by which scientific research has discovered the association between smoking and lung diseases.
The topics discussed include: describing the prevalence of cigarette smoking throughout the centuries, incidence of lung cancer and its link to smoking, effect of the amount smoked, composition of cigarette smoke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Students were expected to meet with their peers and obtain feedback to further improve their ability to disseminate scientific information to a wide range of audiences. The presentation took place on October 20, 2014 in the Togo Salmon Hall Building located in McMaster University and was approximately five minutes in length.
Members of the team of 4th year undergraduate students who created this video include Branson Chen, Jaipaul Dhaliwal, Pavithra Parthasarathy, Rod Rodjanapiches, and Mark Tenn.
