Geology fun fact! When a glacier flows downhil over layered rock of varying mechanical competence (ie. differently resistant to erosion), it can form a series of verticals and flats, that does indeed look a little bit like stairs. These are even sometimes known as "cyclopean stairs", giving it an eldritch flair and associations of antediluvian civilisations from unknown eons. But it is a perfectly natural phenomenon, which also commonly seen at a smaller scale with waterfalls.
