The Hobbit - Gandalf finds swords Glamdring and Sting in cave

Glamdring is still one of my favorite swords from the legendarium. The High Elves knew how to forge swords well. Glamdring, Orcrist, and Sting were missing for over 6000 years, and yet they still looked like new.

I always liked the interaction when Gandalf tells Thorin about the origin of the blades. The inherent dislike between dwarves and elves immediately making Thorin want to leave it. Then, at the claim, he unsheathes it. I imagine his initial desire is to take a quick look, decide he had seen better work from dwarves, and leave it anyways, but the subtle way his face shifts makes it clear that after looking it, even he must acknowledge that he has seen no finer work.
