They moved the button because the motor took up more space. That's why the new one has more power. TTC has a good teardown on it.

If you don't know the difference between levels 1 and 3, use a breaker bar

Own it and love it. Higher torque is definitely there. No issues whatsoever

I bought one as soon as it was in stock while I don’t care for the button the tool is definitely a beast, they took a shit on certain mid torques with this one

I like the double tap neutral feature. It’s a 1 handed action vs a 2 handed action.

I have the original model (250 ft/lbs) and it has always been one of my favorite tools and one of my most daily used… if you can’t figure out the neutral switch pretty quickly just stop working on automobiles or machinery…as for the power I honestly think this is one of the more closely and properly rated tools Milwaukee (and most any other big box brand ….i love this lil guy ….my smallest lowest voltage impact and will out perform every other impact I have BY MILES other than my Dewalt 1/2” DCF900 aka the milly Killy) and my 3/4 “ Milwaukee when it comes to cordless power impact guns

People always have to complain about sometiing. Ive seen several videos of the 2563 loosening 550 ft lbs of torque.

The buttons are no longer on top becuase they needed to remove the circuit board for the bigger motor they put in while keeping it the same size as competing brands. It's also now allows for 1 handed use to change the speed.

I actually love the new mode switching technique. Have you ever been under a car holding the drill with one hand and you cannot put it down to switch the mode because you already have the nut in the socket, this is an amazing idea.

Can’t teach an old dog new tricks is all this sounds like and they said before release you would need the big high output battery and theres a curve with the standard battery

What you are unaware of is that Milwaukee had to change the method of mode selection due to increasing the motor size inside the tool casing. There simply is not room inside the tool casing to accommodate the mode selection switch that was present on the previous gen. I agree that the old method of mode selection is more intuitive, but it was a necessary change due to changes made to the motor.

Power and performance wise, yes. But the sticker that sits over the LED mode lights, not the instruction sticker, but the actual display label covering the mode lights peeled off after 2 uses. Can’t warranty it through Home Depot because they’re out of stock, and Milwaukee can’t repair it because “that label isn’t available separately” according to the representative I spoke to. It’s clearly just an adhesive backed display label, they clearly exist because they’re making more of these tools by the day and the sticker comes from somewhere. Just send me a new damn sticker in the mail so I don’t have to return the tool I paid $200 and waited 3 months for.

This is why I always wait when the latest and greatest comes out.

I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks now mainly using it with a 2.5 battery and I have nothing but great things to say about it. At the end of the day people need to be realistic about the capabilities of this tool don’t expect it to yank off crank bolts and axel nuts. This is a great upgrade from the old gen and a bit more compact as well.

The internals in the gen 2 doesn’t leave room for that button on the top, so it’s a compromise that Milwaukee had to make

I bought the cut off tool. It sat in my box for months because it was disappointing. For some reason i had to grab it and just so happened to put a big battery in it. What a great tool. Absolutely "user error".

Mine feels a bit stronger than my gen 1 but definitely not a huge difference. Typically anything my gen 2 can remove so can my gen 1

TTC has a good teardown video, They moved the button because the motor took up more space due to its Greater power output. For Max power you need the 5Ah Hi output Battery.

I get that they had to move the button to make room for the bigger motor, but surely they could have found another place for it, like on the rear as with the right angle die grinder. But at least they didn't force you to use an app to change it. Although "Alexa, change the torque setting to three" seems like something I'd want to say all day.

My gen 1 works just fine.

If I need more power, I break out the 1/2”
