Thank fucking God Doug Bradley's voice didn't get over dubbed. Every line he says is so good and delivered perfectly

Met Doug Bradley back in 2005ish at a Horror Convention. Was such a classy man. Took time to answer countless questions from us fans as well as stand up for more selfies than a 14yr old girls Instagram acct has. Showed him my Hellraiser tattoo which he complemented. Also met Ashley Laurence at the same convention. I have a mahogany and brass Lament Cube signed by them both along with a few Cenobite actors from a few of the later movies. My prize possession.

You should have mentioned one of the reasons for the iconic Pinhead makeup.

Originally, the story goes, the makeup didn't include the vertical and horizontal lines. It was going to be just a bunch of pins sticking out of his head.

However, it was the makeup people who drew a picture that included the lines so they'd have a grid to go by where they would place the pins. Apparently, Clive Barker saw the picture and thought it made a nice addition to the visual. He told the makeup artists to include it in the final makeup, and the rest is horror history.

I am not a horror movie connoisseur, but I enjoy the sincerity and respect Minty shows his subject matter. It's what got me subscribing. Thanks again for opening doors on these movies.

I showed this movie in my college theater back in 1987 when I was a poor and starving projectionist. It wasn’t scheduled to be shown, but was used as a replacement when the originally scheduled film did not arrive in time. I remember people in the audience being utterly stunned by how violent and scary this movie was. I even remember someone (I presume a girl) screaming when Uncle Frank sliced open the rat.

And when Frank said “Jesus wept”, just before he was finally torn apart? Truly a disturbing experience.

This is a brilliant video, Minty. The way you describe the authority and nobility of Pinhead is spot on.

The most iconic line "Oh come now, no tears please. That's a waste of good suffering."

It’s interesting that they had originally wanted Julia to be the villain of the franchise as she is the main villain in the sequel (one of the most underrated horror sequels imo). And yes, Doug Bradley is awesome. I love his guest vocals in Cradle of Filth songs - such a presence.

One other thing about the Priest from the book, the creature's pins were all decorated with gemstones and other pretty trinkets. The entire look of the Cenobites was that they were beautiful, yet horrible to behold at the same time. Pleasure and pain, heaven and hell, indivisible...

I am so glad you said "...and fantasy writer" because he is the absolute master of both genres.

I've always found Pinhead more intimidating than scary. He's not really evil, he's a dispassionate enforcer of rules. He's like Hades in Greek mythology.

My husband and I (We're 53) have been together for 14 years. He owns all of the Hellraiser movies and some cool figures. I had NEVER seen any of the films until just last weekend. I'll tell you, I am now OBSESSED! What a spectacular movie!! I loved every minute of it! I can't believe I waited this long to watch it! We're planning a Date Binge Day in a couple of weeks. (Halloween weekend!) 🎃 Great video Minty! 😍

A deeply dark, creepy horror classic, this gem gets under your skin... I love it !!!! There’s something very unsettling with S & M gothic horror. A must watch! Doug Bradley is amazing! Ashley Laurence nails her character perfectly & she is quite attractive! The music score is phenomenal & haunting. "WE'LL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART....!!!". Also fans I strongly recommend reading " Hellbound Heart" ....chilling brilliance!

Game changer!! As a huge horror kid of the 80s it was so frefreshing to see a horror vilan that didn't crack Jokes, or have to run around boiler rooms or, woods to get the victims. Also the fact they didn't show up until half way through the movie was genius. Hellbound is prob one of the very few sequal that's as good as the first. Everything after that was just bullshit.

I remember as a lil kid goin to the DVD rent store near my house and looking thru the horror section, I was so intruiged/scared by the DVD poster of hellraiser, I really wanted to watch it but it took several years. Those DVD stores back then had something magickal about them, you could spend hours just wandering thru the store and look at all those DVDs and read their description. Hellraiser has to be one of those movies you'll never forget especially as a child .

Coil is great. My introduction to them was a mix CD that a friend put together that included several of their tracks for Hellraiser. It's solid, and would've been a fantastic, moody soundtrack for the movie.
