For a senior golf like me, it's hybrids, all the way. I carry Cobra 3 and 4. If I need to hit something low, say under a tree, I still carry a 5 iron. But the hybrids fly so far and so high, it's unreal. Probably the greatest innovation in golf clubs in decades.

You have come across beardless rick. Like for good luck

I love how at 2:00 while Rick is stressing how hybrids hit higher he goes up on his tippy toes to make his point! :D

Because of these hybrids it's getting hard to find new long irons, got to pick them up second hand.

If you're ever on a course during a lightning storm, grab a 1-iron and hold it in the air, and you'll be safe. Not even God can hit a 1-iron.

It depends on course and weather conditions. I use Apex UT 18 degree in windy conditions or courses with tight fairways. I swap out the apex UT for a 19 degree hybrid in calm winds and courses with elevated greens or greens with a lot of slope. I carry 4 wedges so I usually have to make a decision on which one to put in the bag based on the conditions that particular day.

would love to see a video comparing a long iron, hybrid and higher lofted woods (e.g. 7 wood). the swing comparisons and the pros and cons of each

I use hybrids from the rough because of the wider sole. prefer them for shots where I'm going to a green too.

I just started playing golf. Mostly on the driving range. I find myself having better shots with irons. I have one 3wood and one hybrid. Those are harder for me to hit. I also find that I hit the 3iron as long as my driver. So I know my driver technique is not as good. Thanks for all the videos. They really do help even for beginners.

always reliable with tips from you. Thank you so much, I improved my golf game by 15 strokes just watching your videos and fixing things here and there.

Approaching senior hood, I replaced my 3 4 5 irons with appropriate hybrids.
Club head speed is down, hybrids can cut through the rough when needed.
I can still work hybrids to fade or draw also.
Hybrids for me makes golf more enjoyable now.

if you have the clubhead speed, a long iron is the way to go. there's nothing more satisfying during a round that flushing a 3 or 4 iron.

As a beginner with a very low club head speed, i prefer hybrid. I have 3-5 Hybrid in my bag and I'm quite happy with my decision.

I have a mavrik 3 hybrid and mavrik 4 iron, both of which are 18 degree loft clubs. This video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Rick

I started playing golf at age 12, with a set of "women's" clubs, at a course with 1/4" topsoil over rock, and often dry fairways. The three wood (not a hybrid) had a long whippy shaft. The club head had a very convex face. Lets just say, I learned to hit long irons pretty quickly.

I really do enjoy the way Rick explains things about the swing and how to do things, I have copied his putting grip and have used it all summer and it has helped huge with consistency on 4-5 footers. You people that have him as a teaching pro are indeed lucky.

As I've got older I've noticed to get distance I need to use Hybrids for long approaches. No point in trying to fight nature, as Rick says if your swing speed is in the 80's then grab a hybrid. The latest Cobra's F8/F9 are amazing for accuracy. My 5 iron came out of the bag this weekend!
