I know someone like this. They force their help when you really didnt need it, and then you owe him a favor

I’m so glad to have clarification on this because it has caused me a considerable amount of confusion. I’ve also heard it called the benevolent narcissist. My sister did and said some really horrible things to me while at the same time gave me money and kept inviting me to stay with her when I was having problems due to an eye injury and loss of everything in my life. The whole thing didn’t make sense to me even as the blatant abuse got steadily worse over time. I still didn’t “see “ it. She had a lot of money and I think it made her feel “better than”. She got accolades from my parents and my other sister and her husband looked up to her as well. She didn’t have any empathy but she’d throw money people’s way and so they considered her to be a “saint “. I saw the ugly side to her a lot which I believe she kept hidden from them. Looking back on it she was wearing her false mask in front of them and her true one in front of me. Her cruelty was astonishing. This information is very helpful. Thanks!

My sister, it's terrifying actually, and it's on my short term to do list to talk to a lawyer about her. Needless to say there was no help just control when i was severely ill

I haven't met someone like this myself, but it seems there are some religious/political figures out there in leadership roles who are like this

If you depend on someone’s handouts, who has the power in that dynamic? If they have been generous, they feel that they have the right to abuse you. Will you complain when they lie and gaslight if you are financially dependent on them?

Altruistic, might coach us into taking nothing for granted. Monopolizing self esteem. Just my personal regard exceeds yours btw.
