saw this video and immediately went, "one's a sixaxis the other's a dualshock3"

Nah the triggers were fire. The first time I pressed them I thought "so this is what modern technology feels like"

I remember some games even brought this fact up. In Metal Gear Solid 4, one of the final "bosses" messes with your controller like he did in the first game, if you're using a Six Axis or don't have vibration he'll cry out about no vibrations, but when they released Dualshock 3 they put out an update to where if vibrations he'll cry out in happiness. "VIBRATION IS BACK!"

Here's an even more rare fact: some of the original sixaxis controllers have hall effect sticks instead of potentiometer based ones.

After using all generations of PlayStation controllers and every Xbox controller, I still feel like the DualShock 4 is the most ergonomically comfortable controller I have ever held especially for super long gaming sessions. It's the perfect size imo (I have medium/average sized hands).

The triggers aren't perfect, but at the time they made you feel like you were actually in the 21st century for once

You forgot that the Six Axis allows you to use the controller accelerometer function. For example you can wheelie your car in GTA4 by pulling the controller back as well with this function you were able to control the helicopter and so on

I remember the sixaxis. I didn't really think about the rumble when I was using the motion prompts on Uncharted 1 to dodge those zombie things, but it sucks knowing that they had rumble inputs built into all the ps3 games that we couldn't take advantage of until the DS3 came out.

I actually really enjoyed the PS3 remote. The triggers were perfect when playing COD Black Ops 1 and 2 😂

The Sixaxis controllers were also slightly translucent. Kinda cool but you can see the hollow grips with no rumble lol

Also fun fact:

Some PS3 controllers used magnetic Hall effect sensors rather than conventional carbon potentiometers. These sensors are effectively immune to drift and may be more precise. From the outside it’s impossible to tell, but on the inside if the sensors on the analog stick module are connected to the main board with 4-pins, then they are Hall effect sensors.

The PS3 controller was a child hood favorite for Gen Z

I loved the trigger buttons. The ones on the DS2 would always mess up and get stuck somehow. Worth the change, especially for racing games.

I remember the day the PS3 came out, my uncle brought his to our house to show me and my brother and when he handed me the controller I thought I’d broken the trigger buttons 😂 I panic’d so bad haha

Honestly for my first console and the fact they had just strayed from buttons for triggers, they were pretty fire. I even perfected my controller grip on the DualShock 3. Index fingers on the shoulder buttons, middle fingers on the triggers, and my thumbs are for the joysticks, dpad, and the PlayStation equivalent to abxy (I was not going through the trouble of spelling out each shape lol)

Before watching the whole thing, one is probably a Dualshock 3 and the other was probably just a Six-axis

I picked up my PS3 when they reduced the price by removing the PS2 chips, but provided rumble again. However, the short battery life annoyed me, so I picked up a fantastic 3rd party, corded option.
