How to Spot Fake PS3 Controllers, DualShock 3

Fake PS3 Controllers are extremely hard to identify just because their extremely similar to DualShock3 Controllers made by Sony. There are plenty of fake controllers with Sony, PlayStation and all other logos almost identical to genuine wireless controllers, so there is no easy way to find out which one is fake or genuine.
In this video I'm sharing my experience with such fake controllers and how to identify the fake one without disassembly.
The software I'm using at the end of the video is SCPToolkit and can be found online, it's free.
SCPToolkit is a free Windows Driver and XInput Wrapper for Sony DualShock 3/4 Controllers.

The ultimate test and one that haven’t been replicated yet because it’s how Sony designed the controllers is that if you plug it into a wall charger the fake will charge, whereas the genuine will not.

If you look REALLY closely at the four colored buttons on the right, the colored shapes look printed on the button if it's fake but on the genuine ones the colored geometric shapes look inlayed into the button itself.

Another way to tell whether or not you have a genuine or fake DualShock 3 controller is when you hook it up to a Windows PC via USB the devices name of the genuine/real DS3 within the control panel ->devices and printers should read as “PLAYSTATION(R) 3 Controller” as opposed to a DS3 which’ll as "PS3 GamePad”. 🖥️🔌🎮

Ah I got a fake one. I noticed the font on the front part with the logo (it's too dark) and the font above the select and start buttons are a bit off. Also SCPtoolkit says I have a fake one. That's a shame, at least I didn't pay too much for it. It was odd to me when I tried to get back to the page that was selling this controller was missing, it was off ebay

One of the quite decisive way to determine if one is fake is to try and hold select+psbutton together for 3-5 sec, if one light blinks rapidly, that's a fake. That fake's feature is used to connect the controller to an Android device (not sure with iphones though) which real controllers WOULD NOT do. (Older fake models may not do this tho)

I have one that just said P3 on the PS button, and I put in real buttons from a broken DS3 and it just doesn’t say Sony or DualShock 3 or SIXAXIS

The model number on the back. the oem controllers Does not end in A1

use as a motion controller on support it p3 games,
and presure sensetive on game Gran Turismo 5 if is not working thats fake controller
you connect it to pc with xinput and you said this is fake controller? scptoolkit not even support Ps3 motion sensor
