Hey, don't diss the pile man, it may not work but it's all I got.

The pile works. I can find ANYTHING as long as no one touches it.

As a teen with ADHD I concur with his findings

Oddly, I never lose anything when my house is in chaos. But once I get everything clean and organize I lose everything.
I end up walking all through the house with no clue to look cause there are no piles for things to hide in.
Drives me crazy.

“Hey do you know where a rubber band is?”
“I think there’s one on the second floor, last room on the left, right corner under the dresser”

Another problem I have is getting distracted by a completely different pile of stuff on my way to look through a pile of stuff, even though I know what I want isn't in that pile but I just want to look through it to see what's in there..then after 10 minutes of looking I find something cool and start doing something else and completely forget what I was looking for in the first place.

The key to the pile system is realizing sorting into sub piles and tasks and todo’s is the first step to proces a pile.

As a Formal diagnosed and medicated ADHD holder, i have one correction. This system does in fact work, **if**it's written down and stuck with; then as you randomly notice ways to become more efficient write it down also for the "system"

Suprised he didn’t mention the tendancy to visually leave things put as a way to manage a lack of working memory, as in sight in mind out of sight out of mind. Not saying it’s always great, but it’s def a tendancy we all have.

Holy shit, that's exactly what I do

I'm offended that he says it doesn't work. It works to hold my stuff until I have the time and emotional space to actually organize it.

I love how psychology and neuro studies works sometimes. I have adhd and have been using the pile system my whole life, I always thought this was just a way I got used to organize things. I never told anyone this and the few people that know are the ones living with me.

The pile works. I hate when people move my things

I have found that WALL POCKETS work AMAZINGLY for me! Especially mesh or clear pockets, so I can see what's in each one. Started this about 3 weeks ago, and have misplaced WAY, WAY far less of my shit over the last 3 weeks! It's been incredibly refreshing.

It does have a logical framework and we can find things if no one has moved them, just like how you couldn't find something if someone moved it.

I mean I do this and it works you just gotta get shit done before the procrastination kicks in

I have the pile system but it works for me. I just procrastinate and that can be a serious problem.

At work I went from the messiest desk to the cleanest by just committing to the pile system and getting some of those stackable file trays and I just labled each one by area of responsibility and I could paper clip stuff in their if needed and then scanned other stuff to Evernote otherwise. But this worked super well. I just remember the look on my colleagues face when my boss grilled him about his desk and he tried to point the finger at me only to find that mine was perfect. Lol priceless.

100% true. I end up with monthsbof backdated paperwork that takes days to file and organize properly while also dealing with whatever important notices may have been missed
