Why do all BOEING jets start with the NUMBER 7 ??? #shorts

Do you know why all Boeing Commercial Jets start and end with the number 7?
To be fair this answer is a little boring.
The engineering division dedicated the number 700 to jet-engined aircraft. Boeing's marketing division realized that the name 700 for their first jet aircraft would sound boring, so they suggested the name to be the 707, which had quite a nice ring to it. The marketing division clearly come up with a more romantic story, did they!

I hope you enjoyed this video and learned a little aviation fact for today! More to come tomorrow!
Wishing you all the best!

The real question is though, what will they name their new planes after they make the 797?

Back in the 60s i was told that 707 was the aspect ratio of the wings (basically a measure of the angularity of the wings relative to the Fuselage

My first commercial long distance flight was on a 707, Gatwick to Harare. Thanks to a bomb scare (Mugabe was on board), I got to experience an emergency evacuation, and use the rubber chutes.

On 2 March 1973 I flew from Los Angeles to San Antonio on a Boeing 720B. You're welcome.

You missed the most interesting part of the 7

The 7 comes from the swept wing angle which was new to the 707 from straight out wings

Boeing uses a 37° wing sweep

It goes deeper than that, one of their first successes as an airliner was the Boeing 247, then came the B-17, the B-29 (9-2=7), the B-47, the B-52 (5+2=7)….Boeing aircraft have had “7s” in their name one way or another for almost 90yrs as a talisman

Question is once 7x7 series runs out of number, what will they put next. (My bet will be 7xx7 or 7x7x7)

Rumour has it that they are designing a new aircraft for secret agents - the 007. :-)

Actually, according to some interesting lore I believe I got from the book “The Jet Age” from Time Life Books, the 707 came from the fact that the design Boeing was using for their first jet airliner was the 707th design. They like it so much they simply continued the trend

Even if it is not romantic, but still I'm in love with 737.

Steve Miller 's " Big Jet Airliner wouldn't have been written. " My heart keeps callin me backwards as I get on the 707 ridin high I got tears in my eyes,
You know you got to go through hell before you get to Heaven!" I'm sure he owes A debt of gratitude. John Fogarty in the song Traveling Band starts by stating" 737 coming out of the sky " gives Boeing another boost.
