"Why invent mediocrity, when you can copy genius?" That's an excellent quote I picked up from a fellow business owner a few years back. What this means is that you should see what is working and try to duplicate it. Why go through all the trouble of inventing something new, that you don't even know will ever work, when you can easily learn from and duplicate something that has been a proven success?

Indeed, as a veteran entrepreneur and business coach I've seen dozens of managers fail miserably -- not because they weren't talented or smart enough -- but because they were trying to re-invent the wheel rather than rely on proven, tested methods that work.

Based on my working experience, some people are easy to get along with. Some people are difficult to get along with. Then there are some people who are impossible to get along with. In every conflict that I have ever witnessed or been involved in, everybody thinks they are right, regardless of how wrong they might be. Finally, Human Resources are not a Police department. They are just workers like everybody else. If there is a conflict between two workers, HR is going to do what is right for the company, not the victim. Usually, HR will get rid of the victim, especially if the victim is on the lower hierarchy of the corporate structure. That's fair, it's politics.

My difficult employee is far worse than that lol... How do you handle screaming matches at work, between two people?

Great suggestions that would succeed in the correct environment and as with all constructs, it's my opinion to look at several approaches and pick and combine those that yield the better results within a given organization.

Some people just don't want to play ball and let others do the work, it should be you either chip in or you get out.

If organizations stop treating employees like just some resources and build a trustworthy long term relationship, there will be no bad employees.
