"Embroidered onto glorious silk satin with the most dainty actual dumpster fires" a phrase I have Never expected to hear but am glad I did

The thing that infuriates me to no end: clothes with « decorative » pockets. Especially on skirts/dresses and pants.
WHY?!
Why give us false hope?

I found a pair of infant jeans that had deeper pockets than mine.

This has been kept as an element of many traditional Swedish regional dresses. Heavily embroidered, they're either tied around the waist or sewn onto the skirt. The direct translation would be "skirt sack" (kjolsäck).

The "it has pockets!" twirl of joy, but make it 2020. Or 1700-something.

Regular clothes: *The deceptive mirage of a pocket*

Bernadette's clothes: *Conveniently and comfortably fits a full Sunday picnic and an assortment of books for light reading*

The way Bernadette says "dumpster fire", she makes it sound so elegant.

There's something about watching you insist on hand sewing a machine embroidered pocket, with a leather thimble, that makes me feel like everything is okay in the world.

I can't wait for the future when historians will be discussing the significance of the 'dumster fire concept' in relation to the 2020 pandemic lifestyle.

I am now thoroughly convinced of outside pockets, not only for convenience but also the opportunity for embellishment is too opportune to pass up!

Women and fems:
"We want comfortable clothes with pockets."
Fashion industry:
"So make men's clothes uncomfortable and remove pockets, got it."
Everyone:
*"NO!"*

My theory: The people who make purses are paying clothing companies to not put pockets in their garments so we have to buy their purses.

My girls are only 6 years and 4 years, and I recently got them some new (well, new to them) clothes and the first thing they said when they put them on, was, “Mom, they’ve got pockets!” I, of course, replied, “I know, isn’t it exciting?!” Even at their tender age they know that pockets are exciting and something to be celebrated!
