Turn a 2D Image into a 3D Print

This video tutorial will show you how to take a 2D image and turn it into a 3D object to print to your 3D printer. This first step is to convert your file to a .svg file then I will import it into Tinkercad. Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3D printing app.

In this video, I am using the Robo C2 printer. It’s a great, ready out of the box 3D printer.

Very nice video a lot of things I would have done differently but just to let you know in case you do not know if you highlight the object or click on it and then hit D on the keyboard it will automatically place it to Flat to the ground.

Also instead of cutting the edges around the logo just make a copy and just fill in the middle so you maintain the exact Edge size and shape then place it under the original.

I have been soooo intimidated by doing my own 3D printing, but I'm tired of asking my 13 y.o. for help...so here I am. What a fabulous tutorial! Slow enough for noobs like me! Thanks for taking the time to put this info out there in a digestible way!! :)

nice video.
I have a question, I want to make something like this. But instead of the image being 'raised' I would like for it to be indented or embedded into the lower piece. Do you know how to do that?

I want to make a coaster with a logo in it, but want the image embedded so a glass/bottle can sit on it.

I am into 3D printing too. Using a Flash Forge Finder. Cheap. My school is high poverty so I got it with Donors Choose. I recommend it for making manipulatives. Thanks for the great stuff. Keep it up.

What do you suggest for designing, Blender or tinkercad?
