I continue to be amused by the close juxtaposition of "men are ready to hear hard truths about the world" and "they like the church because they don't feel as judged there." Seemingly ready to hear ~hard truths~ only about other people, nothing directed at themselves.

It infuriates me that churches and religious orginizations don't pay taxes but are allowed to influence people on who to vote for and also financially support politicians.

"men like harder truths"

truths like, no you don't actually die, you get to live forever with a heavenly father, and all your family and pets and toys will be there

Religion has always been political. I disagree with those who say something like, "There is pure, good religion, but it has been corrupted for political purposes." It is societal, and therefore political, and has been used to justify every point on the political spectrum.

“Traditional Christian values” may also appeal to men, because it holds them up as “leaders”. Modern values and feminism have shifted “leadership” into the hands of “anybody with leadership qualities”, which may feel like a loss of birthright to some men. “Traditional Christian values” also expects women to marry, cherish and obey (men) and stay married even if “things are tough”. This servitude of women probably appeals to some men who feel as if this makes themselves “master” over others. For men that don’t have much in the way of “worth” in society, this is probably exciting.

"If there is any great evil in this world, it's found in those who demonize the meek so that the powerful and corrupt may inherit the Earth."

You really knocked it out of the park with that one. I hate seeing Christianity being used as a way to justify hate against some of the most marginalized people in our society, and it's one of the reasons that I left the Church.

That clip with Kirk defending a literal interpretation of the “Stone gay people” verse was particularly disturbing because I saw a different clip where he was welcoming and respectful to a gay trump voter. He said “I don’t agree with that lifestyle because of my religion”. But he otherwise acted like the young man was an ally. The fact that he’s ok with milking the votes of those he ultimately wants to see put to death is unconscionable and disgusting

The irony of Christians voting for a guy who couldn't be any less Christian is so funny and so sad

Two things mainly lead to me leaving Christianity:
1. Reading the Bible
2. The rampant hypocrisy I saw in the Church.

You can’t be “attracted to harder truths” AND get your fee fees hurt when someone criticizes you.

Taking Charlie Kirk seriously as a political commentator is the equivalent of taking Jake Paul seriously as a boxer.

I work with a young man with severe behavioral issues who's parents are second generation Mexican immigrants. He is obsessed with Charlie Kirk. He is also participating in "no fap" as he thinks it makes him weak. It has had the opposite effect, as the dude is just cranky and intense all the time now.

The craziest part is that the young man I help is very much an atheist. He just digs the vibes I guess, which is scary in its own way.

I try not to judge people on looks, so instead I’ll just address Charlie Kirk’s behavior: his behavior also triggers the uncanny valley, pretending to be civil but you can still tell something is dangerous below the surface in his actions at all times.

So similar to my story. A Muslim fundamentalist boy in Iran.
Thank you for helping me break the spell.❤❤

It always fascinates me how conservative men brag about being big, strong alphas, but at the same time, are supposedly poor sad victims of women, DEI, woke, etc. How do they square those things?

This is a topic worth covering. So many, including me, didn’t take into account the amount of incels and performative Christian men in my generation. The media didn’t account for them, which is why the way the election went caught them so off guard. But frankly with the deteriorating education system and a childhood of political polarization we should have expected this.

I feel defeated. This world has never been a good fit for me and everything has increasingly become more hopeless. The damage done in one day now I can't reverse in an entire lifetime.
