Also- Viltrumite genes are explained as being dominant genes- so it doesn’t really matter if they partner with another species as their child will be genetically almost exclusively viltrumite.

I think the scourge virus also had something to do with it - the Viltrumites needed to bring more variety to their genetic pool, so they wouldn't be wiped out again if the virus resurfaced.

Long story short humans give Viltrumites the warm and fuzzy feelings love.

Nolan made it pretty clear that the concept of "love" was pretty much non existant to them before Earth. Anissa also made it clear that when a Viltrumite does decide to mate, their way was basically "take by force".

Thragg also made it very clear their mission on Earth was to produce as many children with as many woman as possible, not enter monogamous relationships (he is shown literally outraged that that is what ended up happening). He is also shown outraged that one of the Viltrumite protected his spouse during an alien invasion and risked exposure instead of just letting her die and finding a new woman to breed with

Simply put, before earth Viltrumites quite literally didn't care about love (Nolan blatantly says he originally viewed his wife as a pet), they viewed reproduction as a simple necessity for the species (why Thragg ordered them to Earth), felt nothing for the child (due to living for thousands of years if the child was weak it would be killed and they'd just have a new one), the woman had no interest in going through a pregnancy (Anissa made that very clear) and all alien races were basically breeding stocks since their DNA was so strong and pure any offspring was almost pure Viltrumite (Nolan tells Mark this when explaining his heritage).

And if they age slowly, wouldn't it take eons for that kid to be a teenager. Lol

Not to mention the fact that their genes are so dominant that their kids with other species are nearly full blooded. This greatly diversifies the gene pool and probably circulates new powers within their race as they return to their planet. Now you have a race of beings with a super wide range of powers, that all live for like a thousand years, and also have the knowledge of galaxies worth of different planets and races.

Viltrumites remind me of the Asari from Mass Effect, they absolutely gain nothing from breeding amongst themselves alone. That is why breeding with other races is the SUPERIOR option.
Not just because the Viltrumites think they are superior by doing so, but the Viltrumites instinctively know that by doing so they are now inferior being reduced to breeding steers/mares, regardless of the command from their higher-ups.

Psychologically study is a wonderful thing.
