What Did Newegg Do To Their Review System?!

Newegg recently updated it's review section, and it's not good for the consumer from where I stand.

Hi Keith and everybody. On May 17, we changed the way we displayed reviews. We noticed many of our customers looked for additional reviews for related products when they shopped, so we grouped these related product reviews together in an effort to make them more readily available. In practice, the groupings included too many products, and the nature of these reviews wasn’t made clear enough, so we are refining the grouping technique to get back to the original purpose. If users want to ungroup the reviews, there is a checkbox to select on the review tab. Users can also see Verified Owner reviews or Manufacturer Responses. Thanks for your feedback and for helping us make Newegg better.

Couldn't agree more. I just bought a Samsung 970 EVO NVME from Newegg and found the same issue. The reviews were all for the 960 EVO.

Noticed this before on Amazon with monitors, now on Newegg with memory and ssds. I don't support this one bit. Thx for the video.

Simple solution. Don't just go by reviews at Newegg or Amazon before your purchases.
Check numerous reliable site's reviews first and then make up your mind.

Damn Newegg was the last place to go for actual reviews as opposed to Amazon and the crap they do.

😒 uh oh, amazon does some of their reviews just like that too, in any case i think its important that the reviewer mention the exact product in their review body text just in case 🤓💻🚩

This kind of thing always has incentive to pop up in our world. They're preying on some of the most used 'quick glance' tools consumers would be conditioned to using at this point and tilting things in favor of making the sale in most cases.

What's the purpose of consolidating reviews from a profit point of view? Does it save server space?

Also everyone needs to realize that both Newegg & Amazon want to sell more stuff and make more money.
Do your homework before you decide on what you're gonna buy.
It's your money, not Newegg or Amazon's.

It's only a problem if you don't click that options ? I guess I can see as that is so hard to do ! On Amazon I don't think they have that option and for that and many other reasons it's harder to trust Amazon reviews over neweggs !

This is nothing new. Newegg and Amazon have been grouping similar items together for better part of 2 years now. Maybe longer. But unless you actually look at it, you can easily be deceived. Agree with other comments about it being illegal and manipulation.
