I prefer the TX over MDX for the main reason it scored better in your comparison. I need larger more comfortable for more people. As for 4 cylinder vs 6, I agree with the 6 being smoother and better sounding but power delivery is much closer than most people will think unless they drive the 4. Then you add the fact that the other engine options on the TX surpass the performance of the MDX 6 as well as better gas mileage, it just works better for me. But to be honest, I will probably go with the Grand Highlander as it is a great alternative but allows for even more seating while still providing most of what is offered by the luxury models at better price point. My biggest feature I like about the MDX is that second row jump seat feature but the third row negates it for me. Also, can’t stand push button transmissions Honda likes to use. Of course, as always, this is so subjective to each individual but that’s how it applies to my needs and preferences. I’d go TX for the plug in hybrid if it weren’t so pricy.

Usually watch a video weeks after they come out. 35 seconds is an all time record

Thanks for the great preview guys! I just got a Grand Highlander Hybrid Max and the breaks are a bit mushy. How do they compare on the 550?

Agree on the lack of a moonroof being a big airball. All of the written reviews on the Internet say that the CVT is terrible because of the V6's "droning" and lack of refinement. Yet you guys said that it feels refined. Do you think that Lexus has addressed this early feedback and tuned the model you tested?

@6:30 the only thing that I can see that would keep it from credit eligibility are MSRP and where the battery is made. While the vehicle needs to be assembled in the US, there are country of origin restrictions of the components as well.

Too bad they decided on gating the PHEV behind that ridiculous sticker price rather than offering a Grand Highlander Prime.

Can't find where the overall range is with the electric motor and gas engine combined. The Mazda CX90 plug in hybrid says 490 miles combined.

Disappointing that the force you to have a two place second row. If you have a family of five, that could be a deal breaker to have a vehicle this size that only seats four with the third row down and cargo space maximized.

Would love to see a comparison between Lexus Tx vs Mercedes Gls.

How would you compare the handling of 500h vs. 550h+ ?

If this vehicle was $65K out the door, then I would say yes to it. However, considering it’s not, I would go with the Grand Highlander Max Hybrid if you could get it at MSRP.

Would you pick one of these over a new X5 X40i?

Since you drove all 3 variants of the TX, i would love to watch a comparison of ride comfort, driving dynamics etc. My impressions of the TX500h was that it is way too soft even in sport mode. I was shocked by this.

I'm sure it's going to be a reliable vehicle overall and have amazing resale value, but this new styling looks very, very cheap. It doesn't say "luxury" or "premium" to me at all. It looks like it would be more appropriate to wear a Toyota badge.

Seems nice but of course you can’t really buy this. Lexus will offer maybe 5 of these nationwide. Such a joke. Same for Toyota PHEVs (most of them). Just there for compliance and nothing else.
