Steam deck is miracle. When I was a child, I've thought a lot about:"why can't you play in the desktop games from smth that is not so big and inconvenient as a desktop and with smaller screen"
More than 10 years, and there is a steam deck, absolute child dream which became alive.
Gaben is genius)

Whilst the FPS isn’t that much better on paper, it ‘feels’ so much smoother, to the point I’ve upped graphics settings in some games (I’m now playing Spider-Man on Very High for example)!
I am so glad I upgraded!

Good to see that the difference is so little, I’ll wait for the next steam deck hardware upgrade, before I get a new one 😊

I don't see what the big deal is with the Oleg. I have an original LCD screen and am extremely happy with it .

I don’t know how we can objectively compare when we have two different scenes when splitscreen is enabled, naturally there will be completely different FPS. I think it would be better to run some kind of in-game benchmark and show it on the splitscreen then we have an identical scene on the screen. Correct me if I am wrong.

Glad to see the performance is similar because here in Australia, the OLED model is going for $1299 AUD, and at that point, you're better off with the ROG ally.

After Careful Consideration, & Watching Alot Of Videos On The LCD V OLED Comparisons (Performance Wise). I Have Decided Not To Upgrade As a Current Steam Deck Owner, I Am Happy With My Current One As I Have Had Mines For a Little Over a Year At This Point. I Am Waiting For a Proper Steam Deck 2.0 With a Huge Bump In Performance That’s Definitely Gonna Make It Worth While On Keeping Long Term

Thanks For The Vids As Always Mate❤️👍🏾

Thanks for this. I have a Steam Deck already. The bigger battery life is very tempting for me as well as the OLED screen but I don't wanna spend $600 on that nor sell my old Steam Deck. Specially since it has 2TB modded in the hardware

Can you test 3.4.1 against os 3.5.7? Theres multiple complaints in the steam os github and forums about performance differences

So is the slight improvement in fps driven by the better memory speeds.?

The performance difference is minor, but OLED also feels slightly more stable and responsive in actual gameplay. I've tried BG3 on mine in Lower City (biggest and most dense location in the game), and the LCD definitely stuttered more. The OLED performance wasn't radically different, but I felt fewer jarring stutters during movement (though there still were some).

TLDR: if a game won't run on the LCD Steam Deck, it won't run on the OLED either. But games that do run, often play a bit better on the new model, and also look a lot, lot better. I'm not sure how much of this is due to FSR/XeSS kicking in less (maybe I'm wrong, but I believe these technologies always reconstruct the entire image - their picture stability can waver only if you leave them on Auto), and how much is simply the outstanding quality of the panel itself. It's hard to describe, but it looks clearer and even a bit sharper, even though the resolution is exactly the same as the LCD, and the screen is actually slightly larger - so it has lower pixel density. I think it's simply the infinitely higher contrast that helps elevate details.

I am seeing absolutely zero gains from the OLED over the LCD on BG3 and Remant 2. The latter still largely a terrible experience esp in labyrinth even on potato and BG3 as playable as ever. I really wish they had updated the processing power here. with that I am sticking to my combo of LCD deck and Ally and the OLED is with UPS on its way home to Valve

You should test baldurs gate 3 patch 5 and update the recommended settings for oled

How are you getting around the latest starfield update causing crashes on steam deck?

It's a shame that mk1 doesn't scale well and you can't play at 60 on steam deck like mk11.

what do you mean by resolution kicking in? all of these titles support dynamic resolution?
