What should you do after getting arrested for a DUI? How much does a DUI cost? Should you get a lawyer for a DUI? How long until you get your license back? In this video, I'll be sharing my story of being arrested for a DUI with a BAC of .14 and the exact process I went through in terms of jail time, lawyers, court fees, car insurance, DUI school and more to get my license back and get this ordeal behind me. Thank you for sharing your story. A very close family member just got one and I am worried sick about what’s going to happen to him. Your video was very informative and helpful to reduce the stress involved in this reckless choice he made.

Good video. I'm going through the same thing right now. It's pretty stressful for sure

I still have never gotten a DUI to this day. If I know I will be driving, I don't even have one drink. It's not worth risking getting yourself into all this mess let alone potentially severely injuring or killing someone. I couldn't even imagine how terrible it would be to lose a loved one to a drunk driver, and I would never want to put that pain on someone else.

Are you sober now? I’m going sober at 16 and it’s crazy but I guess I did have a problem after denying it and I’m ready to stop doing dangerous things and move on to the next step of my life this is a wake up call for me

Where in California and just experienced getting a DUI yesterday. Could you share with us the lawyer you used?

In Austria, as soon as you are sleeping drunk in car with the ignition on it's called "attempted drunk driving", you don't have to be actively driving. If you made it home, without being pulled over, the austrian cops catch you the next day with the term "residual BAC". Pretty tough here.

In Florida:

DUI Counter-Attack $352
Lawyer $3500
MADD $60
Booking $35

I’m 4 days post arrest, so these are the fees I’ve incurred since then

Mesa, AZ is tough, and it was just a reckless driving charge. Flat fee of $6500 for the lawyer, $4500 for the trial. We go to court in Oct.

About a week ago I got a DUI, I’m over stressing about it. I been contacting multiple lawyers and haven’t been able to find an affordable one, I’m in California too. Could you please provide me your lawyer’s contact info? Thank you in advance!

Claire I need your help. I recently got a dui on Friday morning! What lawyer did you contact because that doesn’t sound too bad if it’s almost 6k I’ve heard some people have to pay almost 10k

Good video. Not had a DUI (thankfully) but I have had some speeding infringements, so I'm no angel. Vic, Australia over 0.05 is a minimum licence suspension, mandatory interlock and fine (0.05-0.08 used to be a fine and demerits, but 2018 I think they increased the penalty); UK over 0.08 (0.05 in Scotland only, for some reason) is minimum 12 month disqualification and fine - but in the UK you keep your licence until you're disqualified by a court, in Australia the ban is roadside. No restricted licences in UK or Victoria, if you're DQ'd for DUI, you're off the road.

Jail is unlikely unless there's injury or death, you're heaps over limit or you're a serious repeat offender. I think in WA, Australia, it's possible to get a permanent licence disqualification for repeat DUI and other offences. Second offence for DUI in the UK within 10 years of the first is a minimum three year disqualification, so they don't shit around - it also counts as a criminal offence, unlike most traffic offences, and stays on you licence for 11 years (rather than 4 for most infringements).

hey, you mentioned how you did school online. is that something you need to confirm with the courts or can you just sign up ? thanks

I thought DUI classes must be in person and that online class won't be counted in court to get your license back and you had to say "voluntary" or they'd deny you? Trying to do research because my BF got a DUI in April.

Awesome video, I understand the feelings. I had gotten an article 15 years ago for roughly the same thing, and during the whole process I felt like they were going to take me outside and shoot me.
