It's so scary to see how self centered and egocentric a person can be purely because they're not smart enough to be able to think about others. She should be consumed with guilt, especially being in the same room as the innocent man who's life she destroyed.

I was a defense attorney for 20 years and represented hundreds of DWI clients. While the vast majority were just normal people who truly did not know they were impaired, did not do badly on field sobriety tests, and had relatively low (but still over the limit) B.A.C. They made a mistake and were generally very remorseful. If I managed to find a flaw in the breath test (and believe me those machines are NOT infallible) and got the charge reduced to reckless driving, I had no problem at all doing so. But there were a handful like this woman and representing them made me sick to my stomach. I've even had idiots show up to court drunk for their DWI case, having DRIVEN to court! (Two got arrested leaving the courtroom.) Eventually I decided I'd had enough and now I'm working on getting back to teaching math. Every defendant in this country is entitled to legal representation but it's women like this that made me quit.

My father's life was destroyed by a drunk driver, as I was only 2 yrs old it didn't exactly improve my childhood either, at any rate, I have ZERO sympathy for drunk drivers. ZERO!

This goes to show how bad our laws against drunk driving need to be changed. It’s 2nd degree homicide first offense. It should be first degree murder if there’s a second offense.

It’s legitimately so scary that one day you could be walking out just fine and the next day you are in a wheel chair for the rest of your life. Why she didn’t get 10+ years is beyond me. She ruined that guys life.

Comes down to personal character. Taking responsibility doesn't just mean saying sorry. It means presenting yourself in court with what little integrity you have left. The victim has suffered more mental and physical trauma than she ever will.

This goes to show you that you can help a person all you want but if they are in the path to destroy themselves, you gotta let them go.
