Haha in Arizona you can pull a U turn when ever you want and so long as it doesn't obstruct traffic

I remember 4 years ago I needed to go to home Depot at night to buy some cleaning supplies, but got stuck in a DUI checkpoint. Good thing in was at the back of the line so I just made a u turn. I didn't get my license yet so I'm thankful that no cop came chasing after me, otherwise they would've impounded my dad's car

I made a u turn at 1 the other day, not because i drink and drive cuz i would never, but because i just finished work and its cold out and im wet in sweat and im literally so close to my house theres no way im waiting in the traffick to be asked 20 questions, if they wanna come talk to me they can see me making the turn and chase me down, not like i had anything to fear because like i said i dont drink and drive

If a DUI check point is being conducted on a highway there needs to be a state police officer present overseeing the check point no matter county or municipality. No Trooper means invalid.

No way this legal u-turn thing is right. Seen it with my own eyes. Anytime someone turns around a cop chases them down. I've seen it on three separate occasions.

I got pulled over by cops because I made a u turn after seeing one and they asked me to use a breathalyzer

They’ll send a runner unit. Turning around just gave them articulate suspicion that you had reason to avoid police activity which now gives them the right to identify who you are. (Disclaimer: not all states).

DUI checkpoints suck because even if you don't drink you know they're still gonna try their hardest to get you convicted for a crime you didn't commit. Happened to a friend who had his eyes red from painting a house and got a DUI

In my town they held it right before a parking lot, and it's a legal left into the lot but they posted up cops on bikes that would wait until you made the left to avoid the checkpoint and do a sobriety test anyways.

My father made a legal u turn before a checkpoint and they chased him down to find why he turned around

Option 1: Go through the checkpoint and invoke your right to remain silent when they ask if you’ve been drinking.

Option 2: Do a U-Turn (if road lines allow it) and invoke your right to remain silent if pulled over until they have reasonable suspicion of a crime committed.

In my area they try to say “we will be having checkpoints at these locations this month”
No times or even days.
Just this intersection sometime this month
