iPad Pro vs MacBook for Students - the TRUTH in 2021

There are tons of videos out there comparing the iPad Pro vs the MacBook Pro for students, and I only see people talking about the specs. In this video I'll tell you my story, and actual day in the life scenarios on using both devices as a student, so if you're in middle school, high school, university or college; this video is for you.
For me, it all depends on what you study, from creative degrees, film, graphic design, medicine, med school, math, music production, marketing, etc. For me the MacBook Air is a more reliable device and the iPad Pro is a more fun way to work. There are tons of useful student iPad apps and Mac apps which make your experience great.
Both the iPad and the MacBook are the ultimate note taking machine!

I used iPad for 3 years, yesterday I sold this "computer", because it was too limited for me, I bought MacBook Air M1 and now I can edit professional videos in FCPX. I loved my iPad, I could edit my videos on a bed, in a living room, everywhere where I wanted, now I can't because Mac is not so portable and convenient and having a touch screen on my iPad was fantastic!

I’m going into my sophomore year of High School and I have the 2020, 12.9” iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and its absolutely amazing. It runs Photoshop and all the editing software I like, and obviously… great for note taking! Definitely recommend it for High Schoolers!

I would love the iPad if they didn't restrict everything, being able to have more manual control on a MacBook is really hard to give up. like downloading softwares that you cannot do on an iPad. iOS is amazing for a lot, but removes many nice computer features

If I had the money I would use an iMac whilst I’m at home and the iPad when I’m travelling. For now, I prefer the Mac because it’s more capable than the iPad.

Another, very professional, video with excellent content comparing the iPad and Mac notebook. I think students care about PRICE. Without going into too much detail, I think the iPad is perfect for in the classroom, whereas the Mac notebook might be best for working at your desk. I love the whole video. I still think you need a boom mic (or a clip-on). Finally, when you say first, second, etc. they can be reinforced with text on the screen. Keep up the great work, Nikias!

Ever since I got an iPad I never used paper and pencil for note taking again. Writing on PDFs, PowerPoint, and other documents with Notability is amazing 😎😎😎.

I finally had to upgrade my 2010 MacBook Pro because it was time to do so. Lol It was a very tough choice but I went with the new iPad. I’m so happy I don’t have to print my notes anymore 🤓💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Thank you for this video 🤗

I loved using the iPad Pro for school, but I could not use it to take proctored exams since Ipad OS does not allow Chrome extensions. Definitely something to consider.

I'm a high school student, I have Windows laptop and then I got the iPad Air 4 and even though I love my iPad, I find a laptop way more useful than a tablet; take in consideration that I'm in high school so I'm not doing super professional stuff but it would be very challenging if I just had the iPad. If you can afford both, get both but, if you can only buy one, please get a laptop.

I love using my old iPad but only used it for a while I saved up for a macbook air M1,
I loved it but the only thing I didn't like was it not having any good code editors for me such as xcode (for fun)or visual studio code for colledge.
If the iPads app library improved this would be my favourite device ever! They are so useful but just not in my use case 😞
Also, I found I used the camera on the iPad alot for scanning documents and it is very easy to take quick notes in class or quick sketches.

Also I feel as if many peoples opinions change of you when you use an "expensive" device such as a MacBook but for some reason if you have one of the 10.2 inch iPads, you don't seem to get as many looks which I mean is another benefit of an iPad :)

Great video. I'm no student, but I've loved my iPadPro for years. I'm thinking lately that since the M1 and future SOCs will be coming to more Apple laptops, I'm not sure why I would not just use a Mac Book Pro. They are so small and light weight, and with the new SOCs, the battery life is all I would ever need. Editing photos, which is the most demanding thing I do (not much, in other words) I think would be easily handled by any current Apple device.

Seriously thinking of changing my system to an iPad Pro M1, 12.9” as my main working device as well as the yet to be announced new iPad mini……my work is mainly documents and communications…..but I can’t seem to build up the courage to take the plunge….big step…
