How to Patch a Hole in Vinyl Siding in 3 Minutes

Показать описание
Got a hole in your vinyl siding and want to patch it quickly? You can patch a hole in your vinyl siding in less than three minutes using Tear Aid Type B from Sailrite. This patch will keep the rain and snow from entering the hole and possibly damaging the backer board surface under the vinyl siding.

Tear Aid Type B is a permanent patch repair on vinyl siding, but for optimal appearance (since the patch is transparent the hole is visible) the damaged siding can be replaced when time allows.

This works great for someone who just bought a house and there is a hole or two in the vinyl siding and the sellers aren't fixing it and don't have any spare strips, so if you wanted to properly fix it, you would need to buy an entire pack and likely it isn't the same color, so you would end up needing to replace each strip to match properly. This video offers a great temporary measure between the winter and summer so someone can ensure that water doesn't pool behind that holes causing water damage in the meantime. The guy makes it obvious that it isn't permanent, but it is a great temporary solution. Thanks for the video. $10 now for a temporary solution is better than waiting until you have $300~ (or much more if you pay someone to do it for you) to fix the siding properly.

I inspect properties for hail damage and come across damaged vinyl siding quite often. I'm going to add this to my bag of tricks for the future. Thanks for this departure video.

It’s a great solution! I think the title of this video just needed to be more specific so that some people wouldn’t moan. I’ve learned so much from your videos and Im grateful for all the free advice!

Why doesn't the manufacture make patches that match the color of their products?

I filled the hole with insulating foam, waited till it dried and shaved off the excess, sanded it smooth and touched it up with paint and it looks good

I don't know about you, but somebody shot my house up w/frozen paintballs in the winter & it caused multiple holes punched through of almost the size of baseballs. My insurance wouldn't cover it unless I wanted them to increase my coverage for twice the amount I'm already paying. So it was No thanks. But I experimented, & for now I temporarily camouflaged it pretty much as I sprayed into the damaged holes w/great stuff 'with an expanding foam that get's stiffened kinda like styrofoam. And by the way, it's called great stuff & is great for a lot of other stuff too. After letting it expand & dry I used a hacksaw blade to cut it off of all the excess expansion so to be even, flat & level w/the siding. I then used what was left inside the holes for a backer support & puttied the foam over w/a plastic wood filler of a creamy white color much like my siding, After it started to harden or stiffen & was not completely dry to the touch, Is then I brushed over it w/a wet paint brush so to match the texture of the siding itself. Now before you get carried away w/it, note this is new to me & you & so try it on a few small spots before going crazy. I am a good man to keep on hand Dave the handyman..

I use tear aid quite often for odd jobs. You could also use angelus leather paint to paint over it with a gray color so the hole isn't visible. It would pass the 5-10 feet test anyway.

Just use a water-based window and door calking. Looks better once you paint it with roughly the same color as the siding when it dries. It's also a permanent fix (more or less).

If you have a piece of siding cut off at least three feet and make sure it's not close to another seam . Then cut the top lip off of the top of the siding and silicone the entire piece over the Hole laminating the entire thing. I must have did this 10 times so far and you cannot even notice it.

I'd like to see a series of how to videos of ppl sticking clear tape over holes in all kinds of different things. Rust hole in your car? A clear piece of tape will fix that right up. Look at this ugly hole in this interior door. Clear tape and your as good as new! Thanks clear tape you saved the day again. And you smooth the tape as you go to avoid bubbles and creasing huh? Fascinating. Damn my kids put a hole in the drywall. What am I gonna do? Hold up. Let's check YouTube and see of theres a clear tape video on it. We'll quick fix this one right away.

Who the hell wants to put a see-through patch on colored siding? We want a permanent fix for the hole and one that matches the material.
