I upgraded to platinum from gold. And I can’t wait to go back to gold. The Platinum should be everything gold and then some. It’s not and for me everyday use Gold is miles ahead

Great video John. I think the best way to use these cards is in combination with each other. Use the Gold card as your earning card and the Platinum for travel and credits!

I used to use my chase sapphire for everyday purchases, then I realized the gold was better for this and got one. It’s funny, I’m now actually incentivized to put the tab on my Amex at restaurants when I’m with large groups!

There are 3 different Platinum cards: The regular version, the Morgan Stanley, & my favorite of the 3 the Charles Schwab. With the Schwab card you can turn your points into cash back because it has a 1.1cpp transfer value (which used to be 1.25 which was just insane.) So if you got the Schwab card with the 100k bonus you just got $1, 100 you can put in your brokerage. That in combo with Rakuten like you suggested makes the Schwab platinum much more flexible.

Great video. I actually have both cards and the gold card stays in my wallet. I use the platinum for flights and big purchases for the purchase protection.

I would like to add even though they are charge cards they can still put a credit spending limit on the cards

I am always looking for value that's why I got the Morgan Stanley Platinum. No annual fee provided you meet certain requirements. And one free authorized user which might come in pretty handy when February 2023 rolls around. What can I say I love both of these cards. Other than the Equinox credit I find the other credits fairly easy to use. Thank you for the video I always learn something new

I have the platinum card, but I am interested in the gold card mainly because it looks like more cash back rewards. Idk whether to get both or just downgrade to the gold.
