I really wish the Platinum would make the 1x a 2x to make it a daily driver.

As one who had both cards and has been traveling full time for the last 4 years, Chase is the one to go with world wide! I dropped that Amex because it's not accepted in most countries. It's great for booking hotels and flights, but for dining and daily expenses, the Amex is not useful for the expense. If you stay in the states and travel occasionally, then Amex would be fine. But if you travel the world a bunch, or full time like me, then the Sapphire Reserve card wins hands down.

🥤Hey Sebby! Just wanted to say you thank you for your videos. I’ve learned so much and have gotten to travel like no one in my family. 🥤

🥤I’m team both. Amex for flights (especially ANA for non-JP flights). Chase for Hyatt. My spend breakdown is:

- Flights (direct): Plat (duh)
- Hotels: CSR x10
- Food: Gold for x4, CFU with x6 if they don’t take Amex.
- Lyft: CSR for x10
- Uber: BBP for x2 and $25/mo credit from Gold+Plat
- Subway: CSR for x3
- Catchall: (x3 because of double cashback for 2024, but otherwise would be x2 with BBP)

I also put my tuition and HOA on the CFU for 3x back this year. Next year I’ll probably go back to what I was doing before which was churning Ink cards, or may switch to BILT on rent days for x2 (even with a 3% fee on tuition, BILT points are so valuable to me I’ll easily get my money’s worth).

For me to switch Amex would need to lose ANA, Chase would need to lose Hyatt. That or some crazy change to the lineup that gives a way better redemption rate on everything I use the other for.

🥤I went with the preferred and platinum. Since the CSP has more bonus categories and also has primary CDW. I do get use of some of the platinum coupon credits

Super important travel perk that I had painful lesson on: Chase reserve has delayed baggage insurance. Amex Plat doesn't. Chase will pay you $100 per day your bag is lost. Airlines usually give you a measly $50 while you wait for luggage.

Hey Sebby! I’d love to see your two player strategy and how that plays out with the cards in the current market! Your last video was over five years ago and would love to see an updated one:)

With a centurion lounge, you don’t get two guests anymore. You must spend 75k to get guests

🥤I was definitely looking into both of these to get to our family. I decide to go with The Ritz Carlton since we are in the Boston area, it does give us better lounge access and we are more focus on a hotel type of card at this time.
I might gonna get the platinum in the future, but for now the math doesn't work in our favor.
Great video as always Sebby. 👍

GOOD info- as always. I love the schwab plat and transfering MR @ 1.1 CPP to my brokerage. That has really helped me kick start my portfolio. The CS Prefered seems to be a good match with the Plat with only a $95 fee and 80K UR points I got in a flyer the other day.

1. Team Amex Platinum
2. Deciding factors: LAX and PHL lounges (since I’m at these airports the most), Equinox credit (was a member over a year before I got the platinum), and the other credits for a lot of the expenses I already have.
3. I would switch to CSR once they have lounges in LA and Philly (Dallas and Atlanta are important cities too). Overall it has better multipliers.

Team CSR. Just watched your other video that CSR will stop Priority pass “restaurant” access benefit July 2024!!! We have used this often at SFO so gives us food for thought to change. Recently visited the CSR lounge in Boston which was super nice!

You missed that the emirates lounge in DC (IAD) is now a chase sapphire lounge with great ammenties!

Ive had both and got rid of the platinum. Centurion lounge is great but very rarely do i fly into a place that has one and neither does my home airport. You also can't bring in a guest which sucks. Also the plat charged me money for transferring points which ticked me off. CSR gives you access to priority pass restaurants which is very nice and with my wife she gets in with me. Its accepted throughout the world because its visa as Amex i was always told we don't take amex....very annoying.

🥤Currently going towards year 2 with CSR. I was looking at the Amex until they started doing couponing. If they want to treat high-end cards like coupon books, I will treat them like coupon books.

Whenever people defend the Amex Platinum, I think of that The Office episode where they're trying to win that coupon book because its "Worth $15000!" 😂

The fact Amex Priority Pass doesn't get you into PP restaurants is a massive miss.

Edit: 2 days later and now Chase PP doesn't give restaurants either 😭
