I'm the same person I am at home as I am at work - I just wear different clothes and sit at a different table. It's all my life. We need to take time off to engage with things that challenge our brains so that we can see the world differently.

Disconnect! “When at the beach stop wanting to be at the office. When at the office stop wanting to be at the beach.” Be Present.

Literally today I had this talk with my wife! I hope that people start to understand that work is not a struggle. It's not work Vs life. Avoid toxic people and trust your team.

The way I see it there's no division between "work and life". There's just creation and indulgence.

My relationships indulge me, and my indulgence inspire everything I create.

Simon... I am fully committed to the concept of full engagement... fully engage at work and fully engage whatever I am doing AWAY from work. When leaving for vacation or trips, I find someone to cover my responsibilities and I say "Have fun, make your own decisions, and don't call me!"

As a corporate world survivor, I can say that most top executives stay in touch with their office even on vacation because They want to remain in charge, and don't delegate & empower their subordinates enough to take kk ey decisions in his / her absence. Many such top executives also love the feeling of bein indispensable to their firm, as dispensability leads to insecurities in them. All this when most of the hard work isput in by the middle & junior executives, not the top shots. Very few in the corporate world manage to have a work-life balance due to their own insecurities.

I couldn't agree more. When taking some days off we should disconnect from our responsibilities. There is no need to feel guilty for that. It doesn't mean that when someone acts in such way they are irresponsible. Instead, it shows self-respect.

Do life! Have you ever noticed that the most successful people live their careers? I think the biggest disconnect for most of us is that we're in the wrong job. You had a dream when you were young. What was it? If you don't see yourself somehow connected to it, that's what's wrong. That and the fact that corporations have done a tremendous job of making us aware of our disposability. Hard to be all-in in an environment in which you feel temporary. I can't help wondering how corporations that routinely layoff and "restructure" didn't see a serious erosion of dedication as the biproduct for everyone?

This may work well in a corporate setting, but in retail, specifically the dynamic world of grocery, I have experienced so many problems when management is "off the clock" or "on vacation " and won't respond to phone calls, texts, or emails.
My team knows that IF my phone is on I will always take their call in case they need something. It has helped the business I work for, it has helped customers, it has increased team morale. Part of being a leader is just being an AVAILABLE resource for your team. Extreme ownership.

He is so right! Let's be frank, people that are always online expecting to manage things are not confident in the themselves and do not trust others (...) Therefore, they think to be indispensable. What an illusion ...
